Hello, Good to see you again!

• Sep. 14, 2007 - 3rd week already?!!

Here is Daniel looking like he is really enjoying his lessons for the day!

This is Chris starting his days lessons.

It is hard to believe that we are starting our 3rd week of school already!  Daniel is doing French again this year and Chris is going to try his hand at Spanish.  What a multi culture house!

The boys and I met Audrey and her kids and another homeschool friend of ours, Lisa and her daughter Lindsey at the Marble Slab in Jonesboro today.  It is an ice cream place, they make all their ice cream homemade.  There was about 20 different flavors of ice cream and about 15 different things that you could have mixed in!  Talk about have to make a decision.  It was really good.  Christopher had a bannana split, but it was not your normal split!  He had 3 scoopes of blueberry ice cream with chocolate and carmel syrup with whipped cream and then the bannana.  Sounds like a stomach ache don't it?  He ate every bit of it!  I should have took a pic of it!

• Sep. 7, 2007 - The boys are back!

We went to Tennessee over Labor Day weekend and picked the boys up.  I got to see all of my family that I have not seen in about a year.  I love it over there, it is very nice with the mountains and everything!

The boys have started on their school work.  Chris is doing the switched on school house this year so far so good with that.  I am going to try add a little bit of lapbooks or some hands on type of things for him.  He seems to be a hands on learner.  We have never tried a lapbook so I am not sure what they are, but I have donwnloaded a few to try out.

Daniel is also doing switched on school house.  He done that last year so he knows what to expect with that.  I will post a picture of them working their poor little fingers to the bones soon.

• Aug. 26, 2007 - Remodeling of the blog

As you can tell by looking at my blog that I have been redoing the whole thing.  Which is eaiser said then done!!  I was trying to put the little photobucket icons on the side and I could get two to go in the spot that I would want but that third one did not want to follow directions!!    It kept wanting to go to the bottom of the page where I did not want it to go.  I finally settled for two of them to be side by side.  I was going to add some more, but that is more work than what I think I want to do right now!!

This project has been a result of the boys being gone still and since Tony works 12 hr night shifts I am running out of things to do!!

Well, I think I am going to stop here, I have caught myself rambling a couple of times and had to delete it.  So I'm off to figure out something to do....again.........

• Aug. 14, 2007 - Camp and other thoughts

This year Daniel and my step-daughter, Jerrica went to Bible camp with Tristin and Kaitlyn, they LOVED it!!  It was the first time that Daniel or Jerrica either one had went to a week long camp so I didn't know if they would get home sick or not.  Both of them said they missed us but didn't get home sick to bad,  They are already making plans to go back next year.

This summer has been a crazy one, I have not known if I've been coming or going all summer long!!  We really have not gone anywhere special this summer like we usually do but, we still have been busy.  The van getting fixed took all extra money that we did have saved up.  At least it broke at the begginng of the summer and not the end or we all would be walking right now!

The boys are at my mom and dads house in Tennessee for about 3 weeks right now.  All 3 of them went even Zac!  The house is so quiet that I don't know what to do.  I should go hang out at Chucky Cheese's just so I can have some background noise!  Am I crazy or what?!  We are going to go get them over Labor Day weekend.  This year we are going to start school after the Labor Day holiday.

I don't have anything else to ramble about right so I'm going to go find something to do now

• Jun. 3, 2007 -

Well, Tony lucked out.  We didn't get to go camping like we planned.  We were to leave on Saturday morning when he got home from work. On Friday the kids and I met our friend Audrey and her family at the movies to watch the new Pirates of the Carribean movie and when we left the theaters the transmission went out in the van!!  Luckily I was still able to drive it home..... at 35 miles an hr all the way but we made it home.  I had Tony on the phone the whole way home just in case!

• May. 19, 2007 - updates

It has been awhile since I last entered anything!!  From the middle of April to the 1st of May is always a busy time for us.  I am finishing up all the 5-10 pages papers that my professors at school assign.  And it is not just one class that does this it's ALL of them!! This past semester I was taking 6 classes, so you can just imagine what it was like here!  Zac turned 2 and is learning a new word every day it seems.  Next weekend we are going to try a new adventure, we are going to go camping!!  We're going to a State Park about an hr 1/2 away.  I grew up camping so this is nothing new to me and the boys have been camping with their cub scout groups and we all have went on vacations with my parents, but we have always stayed in my dads motor home.  Now we are going camping in a tent over Memorial weekend and Tony is not an outdoors men.  This should be one to remember, diffently taking the camera!!

• Mar. 17, 2007 - Flower Bed

This past week the boys and I have been working out in the yard.  First we fixed the flower bed at the side of the house and then on the corner of the house and in front of the house we dug up some plants that we did not want any more.  While we were having "fun" digging up the plants I was pointing out the root system and how they spread out from the plant and how far down into the ground they went.  We dug up two different kinds of plants so we got to explore two different root systems. The boys thought that was neat, I don't think they knew that they were learning!!  After we laid plastic and mulch down a couple of days later I planted some panseys in that area and my 7 year old was asking about the roots that the flower had and was wanting to see them.  Who knew that yard work could be so educational!!

• Nov. 6, 2006 - Here we go

This is our first year of homeschooling.  I have been intereasted in it for sometime now but did not know much about the homeschool life.  We decided to give it a try after the past couple of years of public school being a not so pleasent experence.  All summer long I researched, read and looked up just about everything I could find on the subject.  I have a friend who also homeschools and I'm sure I drove her crazy talking to her about how she does it, but I guess it's because of her that helped in my decision to H/S.  As far as using one company for our curriculum we don't really do that.  Like for my 7yos we use Saxon math, Alpha Omega Science, Abeka History, Spectrim Languge Arts and for spelling we use McGraw Hill Spelling.  The Pizza Hut in our town does the Book-It program (which H/S kids can also partipate in) so thats what we do for reading he is in 2nd grade and he has to read four books a month that I think are on his level (he tries to sneek picture books past me!!).  For my 9yos we started out with the same type of curriculm for him on the 4th grade level but after three months of him complaining that it was to easy we moved him up to 5th grade and he uses the Alpha Omega Switched-On-Schoolhouse.  It's a computer based program, and he is no longer saying that it is to easy!!
