Dear Children,
This morning while nursing Katherine, I was the audience for a grand show! Abigail and Emily, you were giggling gleefully just to feel the lacy bottom edge of your white petticoats skim your legs as they twirled and you seemingly floated around the room. It was a joy to watch!
Watching you, Ian, hang your head and laugh at the girls was equally as joyful. You got to giggling so hard you couldn't breath. That giggle of yous is infectious and endearing!
This morning during chores, Ian was organizing the bottom cabinets. He dropped a gallon of water and said, "Hey, Mom? If this busts open, will it flood the house?" It was so cute that I couldn't contain my laughter which made your grinning cheeks turn red with just a touch of embarrassment. You weren't too embarrassed to let me hug you tight, though.
Then it was on to schoolwork. Abigail, your reading is improving every day! I am so proud of you, and love to watch you as you realize that you are getting it. At times your become frustrated, but only because you expect too much from yourself.

Ian! You absolutely surprised me today with your pocket chart! That brain of yours is just soaking in every tiny bit of information.

Emily Joy, you did your first letter page today! You colored the ant, then glued flax meal on the 'A'. When you were done and we were cleaning up, you went over to Ian's pocket chart, pointed and said, 'A!' You were so proud of yourself! Ian and Abigail were proud of you too! They started clapping and yelling, "Yeah!" (As always, I was proud of you too. ;) )

Katherine! My sweet! Today was a big day for you! You learned how to crawl and clap! You had been getting a serious upper body work out by low crawling everywhere, today you ventured onto your hands and knees and took off!
At lunch Emily was so thoroughly enjoying our leftover carrots that I simply could not resist taking a picture! Can you get any cuter than that?

Miss Katherine wore herself out with her new accomplishments and went to sleep early. Oh, what a wonderful cuddler you are, Katherine! You nuzzle that little head of yours right into my neck and your little contented sighs content me further.

With Love,
Momma

Dear Children,
Today was a warm, sunny day. A bit mild for August in North Carolina and we enjoyed it fully! We started by groggy little eyes and sleepy shuffling feet piling into the van to go get Daddy from work at 6 am. He's been working 2 1/2 jobs lately to take care of us. You are so blessed to have him as your father. He loves you and you love him ... and I love getting to watch you love each other!
We came home and your Daddy dragged his tired body to bed and you all tucked him in. Then we stayed in comfy clothes and just played the whole morning- making cookies, playing memory, and enjoying each other. I was quite sleepy, and Abigailie, with your servant's heart made me a glass of lime aid to try and perk up. Thank you so much, you bless me daily.
Those cookies we were making decided to stick to our pan quite like your nose is stuck on your face, crumbling when we tried to unstick them ... boy am I glad that our noses don't crumble off our faces! The second batch we buttered a glass dish with more butter than has any business being on a pan and decided to make bars instead.

We have a compilations of Laura Numeroff stories and in between each story there are some recipes. Ian really wanted to try the Mouse Cookies, so we did.
Katherine has a teething diaper rash, it's her first. Poor thing. Ian, you were so sweet, holding her hand and hushing to her as I changed her diaper. She looked into your big brown eyes with her big blue eyes with tears lingering on her lashes, as if to say, "Help, Bubby!" and you did. You kissed her forehead and told her it was almost done. Thank you for that. Thank you for taking time for your baby sister and comforting her. And thank you for making my heart swell, because seeing you be so gentle with her sure did!
Abigail and I sat at the table to peel carrots and potatoes for dinner. Miss Abigail and her peeler wielding left hand kept bumping into my peeler wielding right hand. The first time we just kind of looked at each other and chuckled. Then it happened again and peels went flying, one landing right on my foot. We tried really hard not to hit each other, however it seemed the harder we tried, the harder we hit. Finally, we just fell into fits of laughter and accepted that we were going to hit each other.

Miss Katherine was in the boing a boing, just hopping away. Ian and Abigail had been looking at some pictures and decided to share with Katherine about time gone by.

Then, while I was cutting the veggies, Ian and Abigail went outside to shuck the corn for our creamed corn. I think that the corn effected your moods, because you turned into some corny kids!

Miss Emily woke up from her nap while Abigail and Ian were still together. Emily, you were so upset. That pouty lip of yours protruded, your eyes lowered, arms crossed in front of you, and your belly shook with despair. Now, you know that behavior is not allowed and I had no idea what was causing it ... until, I asked if you were upset that Abigail and Ian were tied together. Which you promptly got a huge smile on your face and marched over, wiggling your way in between them and slipping your own leg in through the fabric holding them close. You are such a little nut. Your goofy grin always makes me smile.
Daddy woke up in time to enjoy dinner with us. We had family devotions, and it was time for bed. I know that it may seem like a mundane day in writing, but just spending the time with you, just doing those mundane things that must be done was a pleasure for me. Doing anything with you, no matter what it is, is a joy.
(Deu 6:5-9) "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. {6} "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. {7} "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. {8} "You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. {9} "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates

With Love,
Momma
