Fall is HERE!
Fall is in full swing in our neck of the woods! We lit our first fire in the woodstove Sunday, and have a nice toasty one going now! Sooo thankful for the woodstove, it keeps our home (and US!) snug and warm! DH has worked hard this year on our wood stockpile and we are prepared~let the snow fly!
Our new flock of chickens we got this year are starting to lay, got our first egg this week! What a blessing there--nothing like farm fresh eggs! The girls have been taking care of the chickens and the hen house wonderfully! All 10 new hens should be laying soon, just have to get a bale of straw to line the floor of the hen house and they will be set for the colder months ahead.
It's 38 degrees this morning, which is a bit chilly this early into Fall, but it's welcome, I love Fall and Wintertime--can't wait for that snow!
Put up Blackberry Jam yesterday, everyone had to try it on a homemade roll last night (for dessert no less!) and it appears this batch is a winner :) I am so glad to be able to make homemade Jams and to can for my family--what a blessing it is to know they are eating well!
Need to get more pears and apples put by...I hope to get that done this weekend.

Have a wonderful day in the Lord!
Lisa

When we were homeschooling as teenagers was when we first started raising chickens.....right in the middle of the city! It was great, though, and we loved it! And there is nothing like fresh eggs! I remember canning with my mom, but I don't think we ever made jam. I can't wait to learn and start doing that for my family too!
