Well, we all did pretty well at our little town fair this past weekend. Five first prizes, including Belle's sewing, my cross-stitch, my bread, my husband's Tea Biscuits, and Boo's Lego camper; three second prizes, on Belle's drawing, my cinnamon buns, and my husband's cheese scones, and one third prize--on the Scottish shortbread. My loaf of bread (as a first prize winner) was auctioned off for all of $2.00!
We, among others, are of the "humble" opinion that the judges were not aware of what real shortbread looks or tastes like. His shortbread looks more like Walker's or Dean's than any I've seen. Oh well, he still gets his pound of butter as a prize.
The kids took part in a Pedal Tractor Pull. I was wishing I had my camera. Belle came in third place (out of three
), but she came home with a medal and was pleased as punch to receive it. Boo managed to pedal his tractor all of six feet, while a couple of other farm boys his age got it all the way to the end. (Hmm....guess we need to do a bit more PE around here).
All in all, it was a good weekend. I had done my usual house cleaning on Friday, so I had the day to play.
