Note from Jeri Akin
Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psalm 107:8, 15, 21, & 31
This last month our family has been studying and memorizing Psalm 107. I have to admit that when Fredrick first challenged us to memorize this passage, I was not as excited about it as I have become. As I have done my devotions this Psalm has both convicted and comforted me. I could identify with it.
VS.4&5. “They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty their soul fainted in them.” This reminded me of myself at times. Sometimes lonely, sometimes not sure which direction to go, sometimes desperately seeking what God would have me to do.
VS.26&27 “They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end.” This also spoke to me sometimes feeling like all is great, and then troubles seem to be overwhelming me; sometimes I have felt at my wits end.
Maybe you too have struggled with loneliness, or feeling overwhelmed, or a child who is not responding as you would wish, or finances or…
THERE IS HOPE IN GOD!!
In each case above, as well as other scenarios in this passage, when “they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, he delivered them out of their distresses.” Vs.6, 13, 19, & 28.
Ladies, God is good and faithful and when we cry unto Him, He still hears us and delivers us. I know. I have seen His faithfulness. Not always as soon as I want, but in his time.
As we enter this Holiday season, with all its fun and all its business, remember Psalm 107:1 “Oh give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek to train your children to serve Him.

Braum’s Book Buddy coupons are still available! The coupons came in later than usual this year and with all the sickness we have been fighting, I am behind in getting them out at the normal time. I have plenty of extras for those who did not sign up. If there is anyone who thinks they signed up but haven’t received them, please send me an email. Requests can be sent directly to Pam White.
Braum’s Book Buddy is for 1st – 5th grades. The students read 6 books for each of the 6 prizes, which are ice cream treats at Braum’s. Prize coupons are good through June, 2008 and can be redeemed one at a time between now and then.

NOTE: As much as I have enjoyed putting the PCHEA newsletter together each month, the time has come for me to pass it over to someone else. Susan McMullen has graciously consented to taking it on. She has a lot of experience and will do a fabulous job! You may send any future submissions for the newsletter to Susan. I do want to express my appreciation to everyone for the encouraging emails I have received regarding the PCHEA newsletter in the past. You all are great! ~Ruth Smith
