Hello Ladies,
The tea party was such a wonderful time of fellowship. Thank you to Melissa Laiming for opening her warm and cozy home for us to meet. We chatted together about challenges and triumphs in homeschooling and devoured the tea sandwiches! I know I came away refreshed and encouraged by sharing personal struggles and
hearing that I am not alone in them!!!

We will meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the evening. The topics of discussion will focus on different areas of character training. Here are the dates for the rest of our gatherings:
October 14th, November 11th, None in December, January 13th,
February 10th, March 10th, April 14th, and May 12th.

Hope to see you sometime this year!!
Nancy

Come and experience Norman’s Little River Zoo
I have confirmed our date of October 17th with Little River Zoo. The tour starts at 10:00 AM so we need to be there at 9:45. This is on Hwy 9 going toward Norman.
http://www.littleriverzoo.com
3405 SE 120th Ave. (3/4 mile S. of Hwy 9E),8/10 ths of a mile South of HW9 on 120th Ave SE

The tour will be from 10-11:30. Then we'll eat lunch. They have picnic tables but we need to take a sack lunch. They do sell snacks, water, tea, and juices in their gift shop. They'll give us about 30 minutes to eat and then do a short educational program and bring some animals up close when we'refinished eating. It is stroller and wheelchair friendly.

Because we're taking such a large group, the price will work out to be $3.50 per person. It could even be cheaper than that if more signup.

... it's not too late to sign up if you haven't already!
Thanks, Jennifer
Kasper

important notes ...

When you enlist your family for an event, be sure to let the coordinator of that event know if you do not have regular internet access. Then they will know to call you if plans change.

If you will be coordinating an event or field trip, remember that
though many of us depend on our Yahoo site and e-mail for last minute
information, not everyone can be contacted in this way.

Those of us who enjoy the convenience of the internet, when it
comes to contacting each other, should not forget that our newsletter,
and phone calls, are still necessary to convey information to our whole
PCHEA family.

Note from Susan, our Newsletter Editor:
I will make every attempt to get our November issue sent on the 25th.  We have some families who are new to the area.  Let's share information on local-community, seasonal events that would be fun for families.  If you know of such activities, through the first week of January, please get the information to me by October 15th.

Our 2008-2009 member directory is now at the PCHEA Yahoo site; thanks to Donna Snyder for her work on this.  If you are unable to get at this file, let me know so we can get the directory to you.

I hope to hear from some of you,
Susan McMullen

About PCHEA

PCHEA is an OCHEC affiliated support group. We are Christian in orientation and leadership, as are most of our members, but we do not exclude anyone on the basis of their beliefs. We are committed to home educators; to help each other accomplish our educational goals, to support one another in love, and to strengthen and promote quality home education in our area. We are diverse with families from all walks of life. Families in our group espouse various educational philosophies, use a wide spectrum of curricula and teach children at many levels, from pre-school through high school.
