Choir/Music Lesson Opportunities at OBU
Hello everyone!
I just saw Conchita Hansford (the director of the Preparatory Program at OBU), and she asked if I would pass along some information regarding upcoming music activities available to our youth here in the area.
First, the youth choirs (ranging from 2nd grade through HS) will be holding open auditions tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 21, and Monday, Aug. 24th, from 3-5 pm. There is no audition for 2nd or 3rd graders, and students in these grades may be registered over the phone. All auditions will take place at OBU in 141 Raley. Second, there are still openings available for private lessons in a wide range of instruments (piano, voice, band and string, guitar, etc. Again, if you would like more information please contact Conchita. I know that some of the PCHEA families participate in these programs and have enjoyed them. Personally, I accompany the Shawnee Honor Choir (an auditioned choir for 4-6th grades, although there has been a range from 2nd through 7th, depending on the ability and level of the individual student), and have enjoyed being a part of the ensemble. Singing in a choir is an important part of musical growth for all children, and if your child likes to sing this may be a great activity for them.
