Highschool and Beyond Workshop
Barb Mesh Does It Again!
What aWONDERFUL time we had at the Barb Mesh Workshop! She was cooking with GAS! She always does a good job but, you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit empowering her! My favorite Barb Quote this time was, "When you see Poop, Look for the Pony"! In other words, something good always comes out of something bad.
We had over 40 in attendance, the largest one thus far. Barb provided each of us with a book chock full of everything you need to know to prepare you’re your high school student for their journey through highschool and beyond. It was so inspiring to have all the information broken down for us with procedures, references, sample pages, and stories. Her stories provided us with encouragement, laughter, and a “how to”.Her sweet humble spirit was evident throughout.
Do you want to learn about establishing college credit, graduation requirements, dual enrollment, record keeping, transcripts and portfolios? The PPEA will be sponsoring another “Getting Through Highschool and Beyond” Workshop in the future. Join the PPEA for this and more great events coming exclusively for the PPEA 2008/2009 school year!
Thank you to all who attended and contributed to make this event a success.
Neoka, you did such an amazing job putting it together. Thank you for all the time you invested in this while finishing up your school. It went flawlessly.
Thank you Joe and Lynn Sowers for all your hard work setting up, tearing down tables, doing sound, etc..., not to mention hosting at your church, Grace Brethren!
Once again, just like every other event..., We are Better Together!

It was a night to remember. What great fun we all had. There was laughter, music, some tears (from proud parents). It was an incredible blessing to see the Lord manisfest Himself so creatively through His children. I long to see where these first steps will take them as they continue to take baby steps in honoring their parents and the Lord with their gifts.
We will have a short video presentation of the event put together by two of our teen volunteers to showcase their talent as they hold on to a vision of filmaking for christ Glory.

What great ideas were shared in our round table discussion. Being we are all homeschoolers at the meeting we understand the unexpected and this meeting was full of the unexpected. From forgetting the meeting was happening, to the door not getting opened on time and to the list of ideas being left at home, it still went on. With all that said, it still was still a GREAT meeting. Full of ideas with small cost and many that were free. Thank you to all those who came and made this meeting a success.
The long anticipated Betty/Olive meeting was a great time filled with fun and laughter. No more need for identity crises'. What a blessing to have such Godly, funny ladies share their hearts, wisdom and experiences in such a transparent and eloquent way. It is a rejuvenating, life changing message to be able to understand why we homeschool the way we do and why certain curriculums work for us and why some don't.
TWO OF OUR VERY TALENTED TEENS ARE PRESENTLY EDITING THE MEETING TO PROVIDE YOU WITH VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS. CHECK BACK SOON!

It is going to be an AMAZING night where our homeschool community really “SHINES”!
We have over 34 acts scheduled. This is an excellent Family Night opportunity. We have soloist’s, dancers, comedian’s and even a full choir. Bring your spouse, Grandma’s, Grandpa’s, Aunt’s, Uncle’s...., even your neighbors and join us for a FUN-FILLED evening of enter tainment! If you’ve never attended this annual event then this is YOUR year! Won’t you come celebrate with us!?
Remember we’re better together! This event will be held at our normal location, however we will be in the main sanctuary. (due to the large response, you will need to come early to get a good seat) We’ll see you there!

Barry Stebbing and his beautiful wife were a HUGE hit! We had over 100 participants and a multitude of volunteers helping to make this event special.
Thank YOU so much for making the Stebbings experience a blessing. They could not say enough kind things and we are planning to have them back in two years.
Barry taught the children how to use paints, colored pencils, shadowing, countouring and so much more. He assigned homework and based upon their work he was able to recommend a curriculum.
Barry actually shared that this group was one of his favorites to work with. Even though the numbers were high, everyone was so well behaved and intent on learning that it built EXCITEMENT!
We would like to thank Cindy DiMarco our event Coordinator for the hours she invested behind the scenes and at the actual event. She never once seemed frazzled or frustrated but consistently had a smile on her face and a lilt in her voice. It was evident that the Holy Spirit was working through her!
WOW! What an incredible blessing this was for our community! Renee Miller was such an encouraging & inspiring speaker. We could not have been more pleased with how this event turned out.
I cannot believe the inventory "Millers" brought with them. Paint, white boards, markers, journals, spelling lists, art books, stickers, you name it. If you missed them for any reason please stop by their booth at the convention.
My personal favorite was the white boards made in a personal lap size. We use them for EVERYTHING!
We would like to thank Brandy Strouse and her group volunteers
for all their help making this opportunity available for us! There were countless hours invested behind the scenes. Ladies, (and husbands) it was worth every minute you invested. We were BLESSED!

"BETTY BOHEMIAN"
Do you ever get caught up in noticing your friend's strengths and your weaknesses? Do you find yourself being tossed like waves in a storm when choosing curriculum? Do you see how something works so PERFECTLY for your best friend and then you buy it and try it and it's a dud in your home? Do you watch your friend with amazement as she plugs into activities, involves herself in co-ops, while maintaining a sense of JOY and yet you can't find time to run to the grocery store?
"OLIVE ORGANIZED"
Come to this FUN-filled, fast paced workshop to better understand who YOU are, so that you can embrace your strengths, strengthen your weaknesses! Find out if your a "Betty Bohemian" or an "Olive Organized" and what that means?. God made us for a purpose and as homeschoolers we waste so much time trying to become what we admire rather than embracing who God made us to be! Once you learn to walk in your strengths it makes curriculum decisions, activity opportunities and Goal setting so much easier.

You're important!
We only have two meetings left for this school year,
One of the greatest joys a homeschooling parent has is the ability to instill their values into the hearts of their most precious commodities..., their children. Teaching them abstinence is one of our top priorities. However, they are growing up in a world that you and I never experienced. The birth of the computer opened a brand new opportunity for the enemy to sneak in and steal our children’s innocence.. Television and movies have so changed their standards that our children are now exposed to things on regular television our parents never had to worry about. But, even as the world around us changes, there is one thing that NEVER does! HIS name is JESUS CHRIST, Lord of LORDS! His Word tells us, “God desires truth in the innermost being and in the hidden part you will make me know Wisdom.” (Psalm 51:6)
The PPEA is working together with the Pregnancy Center of PinellasCounty to offer a Biblically based Abstinence Workshop for Homeschoolers. As they pour God’s truth, along with information and inspiration into our children’s hearts, HE will make HIS wisdom known! This workshop is for 12-18 year-olds. A coinciding session will be held for the parents at the same time and location. You can visit More 2 Life’s website to get more information about who they are and what they do (see below)
We thePPEA Board also know that your relationship with your child is extremely important, we have posted on our website a “Q & A” of the topics More2Lifewill be teaching on so that you know exactly what they’ll be talking about with your child. Also, during each session, students will be receiving a “Talk Sheet” which is something that will allow you to talk with your child about what they learned in the workshop and apply it to the family level.
You will need to R.S.V.P. and bring Parental Permission Form with you to the workshop. Go to: http://www.ppea-homeschool.com

Classes will be held on Thursdays from February 7th to May 15th with a break on April 3rd for Spring Break.
