Important Details
Anyone who is registered for the history fair can arrive between 8:30
and 9:oo am to set up your display, depending on how long you will
need. We will start the program and judging at 9:00. We will give you
a number when you arrive to put on the front of your display. You can
put your name on the back or bottom, where it is out of sight. Don't
forget to document your sources somewhere on your project or to the side.
We will meet in the Pinellas Room. Just go through the breezeway
between the office and the museum and then turn right.
The judging will be based on overall neatness of your work, how well
you covered your topic, if people can look at your display and learn
something from it, documentation of sources. Most of our participants
are in elementary and middle school grades, so the focus of the
judging will be to encourage the students in the work they have done.
It will not be a high pressure day.
We want to kids to enjoy learning about history and doing big projects. In the next year or two we will be looking into the judging to go on to district and state competition. That is for grades 7 to 12 and is very involved.
We had to drop the idea of prizes for "Best of Show" for several
reasons. Instead, there will be a random drawing for prizes for all
the students who participate, in addition to the certificate that each
will receive.
The "official" part of the day should be over before noon, maybe even
by 11 am. But there is more planned if you can stay the whole day. A
separate post will have that information.
If you have any other questions, feel free to call or email.

In Addition.....,
The Official" part of our program should be over by noon, but you are
welcome to spend the day with us.
If you wish, you can bring your own lunch and then take a guided tour of the Village at 1 pm. The cost of the tour is $3 per person, but it will help you to know about the buildings of the Village and the history of Pinellas County. Or you can tour the Village on your own, which as always, is free.
We would welcome any students (or parents) coming to participate or
watch, to dress in historic costumes. It could be in the time period
of your project or any time period you wish. Just have fun with it!
Special Music

We will be having a special musical program put on by Susan Boyer
Haley. She will be bringing several mountain dulcimers, her guitar and
"Limberjacks". Come and learn about passing stories down through the
generations through songs and how to play the Limberjack!
