It's a No-Brainer

Do you have a blog? If not, you are truly not tapping into one of the latest and greatest marketing tools for your company.
People come to me very frequently who want to start their own businesses. They often have great ideas and sometimes have even started on them, but when I suggest they consider starting a blog -- it's free, it's fast, it's easy, it's a no-brainer -- I usually get a weird look. Why would anyone want to do that? What's a "blog" anyway?
Duct Tape Marketing has an excellent post on this. If you think blogging is just for weirdos or techno-geeks, guess again.
According to Duct Tape Marketing, blogging:
- Will bring you a substantial increase in search engine traffic
- Will greatly enhance your ability to communicate with your market
- Will increase your odds of being interviewed by the media
- Will allow you (or someone you designate) to instantly post news updates to your web site
- Willl guarantee that your web site has fresh reasons for people to come back
- Will allow you to be seen as a thought leader in your industry and
- Will give you a tool to help cement strategic partner relationships
I have been blogging in conjunction with our small business for the past 9 months. I have been amazed to see the growth in traffic, sales, and profit for our business through my blog. While these direct monetary results have indeed been wonderful, more importantly, through blogging, I've grown a lot as a person, met many wonderful people, learned to deal with critics (they will always exist), become more confident in my beliefs, and been strengthened in my faith.

Something I have recently discovered about Blogging in conjunction with your business is "feedback". Our angle is "creative homeschooling/learning" which we offer through our websites and newsletter but with my blog, I get to hear instant feedback about those ideas. This is something new and I love it!
