What's in the Works at The Old Schoolhouse?
9:53 PM, Sep. 22, 2005

Welcome back to the TOS Press Room!  Take a quick glimpse around, make sure nobody's listening...shhhhh...wanna hear some of the "skinny" for the week?  Pssst!  Pssst!

Okay, *grin* so it's not quite top secret if yours truly is in here blogging about the latest news, but it's fun to pretend, isn't it?  Here's what is going on behind the scenes here at TOS this week:

1)  We'll be starting a new e-Newsletter and YOU, our colleagues in the "homeschool marketplace", are invited to join in the fun.  It's not even on the website yet, but as soon as it is, be sure to sign up so you get every edition...beginning 1 November 2005.  Get ready to start off 2006 with a marketing *BANG*!  What's it about?  Here's the news:

Homeschool Marketers e-Newsletter (company owners, public relations & marketing staff members, and authors/writers ONLY)
Join us monthly for a newsletter just for homeschool marketplace professionals. Free, and your email is kept private. Learn about branding, becoming a "category of one" company, and how your products fit into the homeschooling community. Your Editor: Melonie Murray, Director of Marketing for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, LLC.

2)  Did you hear about the Old Tennessee Barn yet?  No, it's not an old outbuilding found near the Suarez clan's new home.  It's our new General Store for all things homeschool, homesteading, and Lost Arts.  Think pinnafores, bees, bonnets, soapmaking, slates, candlemaking...oh goodness, this is going to be fun!  Plain and simple, the Old Tennessee Barn will be "A Mountain & Prairie Mercantile".  Check out the comments on Gena's blog at http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/TOSPublisher for more dish on this venture.  (And if you are a shop owner or creator of books or products in this realm, email me!  We'll be sitting down in TN in November to discuss what items will be offered in the first catalog...get your bids in NOW so I can check out your product line and prices and discuss with Those in Charge!)

3)  Last, but definitely not least...a little something fun for those of you who are attempting to break into the homeschool marketplace.  I've gotten the green light to start a contest for a FREE print advertisement in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.  Sound good to you?  Keep checking in here at the TOS Press Room.  I'm working on the details over the next few days and will post an official announcement for contest entry next week!

Until we meet again...stay safe and have a great weekend!

Honestly...The Old Tennessee Barn is HUGELY exciting to me! It is SO right up my alley and I can't wait to see what you talented ladies pull together. My husband wants to make sure you do something about blacksmithing..his newest "old" interest. The newsletter sounds great too. Great job! Eleanor

you know how I love to homestead.....maybe I'll buy a bonnet or something and look like I'm livin' the "GOOD LIFE" as you call it....as I do my grocery shopping at a real store and write my check -- hee hee....
