TOS Teams Up with TEACH Magazine!
2:47 PM, Oct. 1, 2005
Lorrie Flem of TEACH Magazine has announced an incredible way for homeschoolers everywhere to help those in need after the devestation of Hurricane Katrina. TOS staffers are trying to help by spreading the word!
Despite what some may say, not all of us are "all helped out". PRMama is seeing DAILY offers from homeschool families far and wide who still want to give whatever is needed. Please take a moment to read the following message from Lorrie over at TEACH. We'd sincerely appreciate your help in sharing this information with other homeschool families by posting a link on your blog to this entry or to Lorrie's blog. Feel free to pass this information along to those at church, in your homeschool support group, your colleagues in the marketing industry...everywhere! Let's band together and help out!
Lorrie's got the perfect way to join in and let the survivors of this hurricane know that we have not forgotten them. Read on:
***THE FOLLOWING IS COURTESY OF LORRIE FLEM, TEACH MAGAZINE*** After a loved one dies, for a time you are surrounded by people who care. Your friends and other family members are knit together and become stronger as a result. Then a while passes. Others return to their own lives, they still care but they resume life filled with their daily responsibilities and you aren't ready yet. Recently a local radio show told my sister-in-law their listeners are hurricane helped out. They didn't feel they could talk any more about hurricane relief. "Their listeners were tired of hearing it." Are you tired of hearing about it? Are you "helped out?" What if you lived in the paths of the hurricanes? What if you had contaminated sludge in your carpets, slime residue on your walls, filth coating everything in your kitchen ... in your house ... it doesn't matter if you are tired of it.
We have the opportunity RIGHT NOW to help people who are wallowing in houses of gross muck. Do they have a shovel to start clearing it out with? Do they have bleach and other cleaning supplies to disinfect with?
You can show them you care by meeting their practical needs.
Don't send more money. When there isn't a store within 300 miles that has what they need, what good will that do?
Send them personal hygiene and household cleaning supplies AND tell them that Jesus loves them at the same time.
How? It's easy. Order a kit for as little as $9.
