Ok, so you have started a blog. Now what? After all, you've heard everywhere lately that blogging is an important part of any 21st century company's public relations program, yes?But what do you say? First, establish the purpose of your blog. Is it a personal diary that allows customers/fans/friends inside to view your daily happenings? Is it a billboard to trumpet your latest company offerings again and again? Hint: don't let it become the latter. Your readers will return for more regularly because you're letting them get to know YOU. Yes, capitalize on that to some degree, of course. Share specials, campaigns, but do it with one thing in mind - they are hearing it from a friend, not a salesman. I read corporate and small business blogs all the time, and I've noticed that the highest trafficked ones are those that level with the reader rather than talking down or blaring their latest sale. Again, slip those in like you would tell your neighbor about the two for one sale drumsticks at KFC, but don't allow it to rule. Be transparent; be real. And most of all, make it fun. Ok, so go read THIS article which will get you started on CONTENT. After all, we all need a little writer push (or swift kick) every now and then. This'll help. And then? Start the conversation and keep it going - daily. Your friends are waiting.
