You Can Be a Great Communicator
11:52 AM, Jan. 12, 2006
Have you ever hung up the phone and wondered, What on earth did I just say?
Ive asked that question more times than I care to admit. Most of us probably have. Since we cant take back something that is said, we need to communicate effectively the first time.
In college, I was a speech communications major for two years before I realized I was shy (shhhh, dont tell anyone!). One thing I experienced first-hand was that good communication skills have to be learned. Most people arent born great communicators; they LEARN to be great communicators.
Our communication skills encompass so many areas of our lives. These skills affect: how we communicate with our customers and potential customers; our confidence in speaking out for what we believe in; and our daily conversation with our families. We should hone these skills so we feel confident in our ability to say what we mean.
So, are you ready to sharpen your communication skills? Then, youll want to join the 1st Annual Say What You Mean Convention to be held on February 1-3, 2006. February 2nd is dedicated specifically for business communications. Youll have the opportunity to participate in virtual and live interactive seminars on various business communication topics, enter contests, and listen in as Regina Baker talks about being a Christian in business.
Hope to see you there!
