Chinglish--Christian Bilingual homeschooling in Taiwan

May. 16, 2008 - Friday..

I probably shouldn't be on the computer. I have a headache, mainly cause I am tired. I went to a seminar today, all day!! It was for foster parents.I can now write a report and get 3credits towards my masters degree. The class was on ADHD, Asperger's and Kanners Syndrome. You know, I guess I read too much, cause the professional therapist lady didn't say much new stuff. I really knew alot that they said. Granted it was basic, but I guess there is just so much more research in English than in Chinese. Anyway, I had ot get up early for it (for me it was early). Anyway, I just can't get to sleep or nap. I am tired.

While there today, a foster mom came to me and said "hey this baby girl is up for adoption." Well, I talked to social worker. Dad wants to sign papers, but mom doesn't. Unfortunately, mom is a druggie (sniffs strong glue) and not really "with it" most of the time. Now just a matter of seeing what the gov't will do if they will do anything. Baby girl is number 6, girl number 6!! the last 3 are all in foster care........never a dull moment.

Well, stories are coming out of China, exciting ones and tearjerkers!! After 80hrs in rubble, a high school (I think) guy was rescued.....the first thing he said was "can I have a Coke?" a classmate of his walked out!!! "I'm fine,I'm fine." Then there was the 2nd grader who was rescued by her dad who dug through rubble for 3 hours to get her out. She kept saying "I am so glad to see you daddy, I'll never smart mouth you again, thank you for saving me!!! (are you crying yet!!)...........Just keep  praying for them.

Luke actually goes to China next week, for one week. He will be far from the earthquake area, but hoping to contact another student or two from that area that no one has been able to talk to.

You know, I am glad that we  have our boys at home. While watching the news, we can talk about all this. We know how much they can handle, we know how much they should know. My oldest is more sensitive to this stuff than the other two. They ask questions, normal curiosity. And we can answer. I don't have to rely on someone else to answer.  Little blessings!!!

Hi,
Just read your prayer request about China. So heartbreaking, I know. I don't know if it just comes with age, but it seems like I see so many more natural disasters as time goes on. The earth will become restless....
I hope you don't mind, but I added your link to my page, www.mommajosminutes.blogspot.com
I look forward to reading more about you on your blog.
Have a blessed day!

We don't watch tv, but I try to share stories as I learn about them so the older kids won't be so insulated from reality. I've been amazed an overwhelmed by the number of tragedies we've seen in the news this month--I'm sure it is very scary for the children.
