So you ask, why the rooster?
Because to me they've always symbolized...
Wake Up!
Now that that's settled. I think it's me that needs to wake up the most.
I will refer to my dear wife here as Mama Chanoli or just Mama when I get tired of typing. We have three little ones who will be referred to as Chanoli collectively, or Chuckles, Giggles, and Silliness specifically.
Mama Chanoli is the love of my wife. She endures all the challenges that every stay-at-home mother of three faces and manages to tolerate me while keeping our home, and still finding time to make me remember why I fell in love with her in the first place. First and foremost, she is living proof that God is merciful, because He has given me more than I ever could have asked for in a good wife.
Chuckles is our almost 4 year old son who thinks everything on earth that fits in your hand is somehow capable of launching a projectile. If it shoots, has a sword, or is in any way related to horses, he'll be paying attention. He is homeschooling us quite effectively.
Giggles is our 2 1/2 year old Daughter. She is truly a princess whose largest concerns in life are what color she is wearing today and which part of her body her imagination just injured. She too is homeschooling us, with all the facial expression of a cartoon character. She's also the cuddly one in the family, if you can get her to sit still for more than 15 seconds.
Silliness just plain IS a cartoon character. She's our youngest daughter at just over 1 year old, but as far as she's concerned, the world is hers to toy with. She is not only homeschooling her parents, she has her brother and sister in training too.
Now that the introductions are over I'll attempt to outline the reason I started this blog in the first place. It's really an experiment for me, and I hope it will at the least prove to be a little interesting to other homeschoolers out there. Only the test of time will reveal the truth of that I'm guessing.
I've been watching headlines and absorbing a bit of info on the subject of homeschooling and will be providing links to information I find on the subject that in my opinion might be useful or interesting to others. I suppose I might put the occasional opinion out there as well. I'm particularly concerned with the fact that homeschooling seems to have attracted the attention of politics in our country. Where that will lead us I don't know, but the trend I'm picking up on seems to be hostile to our right to train up our children in the way that they should go.
I hope that some of the topics I point to might stimulate discussion. My goal is to learn more, become a good homeschooler husband/dad and support for my wife as she faces the fears, challenges, and successes of homeschooling our children. I would also like to protect my right to do so. If I can do that and glorify my Lord and Savior at the same time, then this humble little blog will have served me well and hopefully served others well too.
