Kindergarden
I am really worried about Kindergarden. I went to an orientation that the preschool held for the kids who are transitioning to K. I think an typical child will do fine. But a child who has specific individual needs will suffer in public school. The school my son is scheduled to go to (unless I change my mind over the summer) has 700 children and serves grades K-3. That is a lot of students and I dont care what anyone says to me he will not get the attention that he needs. I met the principal of the elementary school and told him I am interested in meeting with my son's soon to be K teacher and him so I can talk abotu my son. I don't like to label my son but its important so theyunderstand what to expect of him. He may not want to do all of the groups activities, he does not understand danger, he may run away or pull away from you. Most of the time he is not disobedient, he is just very acitve and loves to play. But he is a child who is very able to learn. He can read books and he attempts to read everything around him. (I understand that many aspies can read but dont comprehend what they are reading) The children in his current preschool dont even recognize their letters or sounds, some even still have accidents. Altough it took me some time my son is potty trained. He just needs to be encouraged to make sure he keeps himself clean after he does his business. Its very hard being a mother because at times I feel I am missing out on life. I am 25, will be 26 in a couple of months. I have many chidhood dreams and goals that I have just pushed to the side. Having 3 kids I dont find it easy to be a woman and take care of my personal needs and be a mother and be so giving and serving towards my husband and children.
