Passion for Purple

It's heating up in the desert

It's that time of year. We've had our winter, a nice spring and now it's summer. At least according to the temperature guage it's summer. The last few weeks the temperature has crept up, and according to Accuweather (see my side bar), it wil be 112 by Monday. I am not sure I am ready for that, yet. I am thankful that we don't jump from 70's to 100's over night. We usually have a few weeks of 80's, then 90's, then 100's. Do we ever get used to it? No, not totally. Every year, walking through Wal*Mart I hear someone saying they are moving cause they cant take the heat anymore. I can understand that. Still, I enjoy the nice winters, the wonderful spring, so I can put with the heat for a few months to enjoy 9 months of great weather. We don't plan to stay in Arizona for ever, someday we will most likely move to a more milder climate. God put us here for a reason so we are going to make the best of it till he see's fit to move us, or not.  I love the rugged beauty of the area. When someone finds out about the heat and where I live, I am always asked these questions... Do you have air conditioning? Yes, we do. There are a few that don't, I don't know they survive. How do you spend time outside? You don't, you go from your AC car, to your AC store, to your AC house. My husband occasionally has to work outside. It' s difficult, but you just stay covered and hydrated. How can you stand it? Well, you have to realize that it's only for a few months. While the rest of the country is in snow, rain, or whatever, we might be outside enjoying a picnic or a walk. Is it always like that, nice in the winter? No, we do have TONS of wind and it does get chilly, we do get in the 30's on occasion and 40's, but it's dry so it's not that bone chilling cold. Do you miss the ''green' of Washington? Yes, I appreciate it more when I go back to visit. It's something I didn't recognize when I lived there.  And naturally I miss my family and friends.

Like I said, it's heating up! Thank God for air conditioning. LOL!!

It's getting hot here too! I don't like it very much :(, but am trying to see the bright side of things as you say. It's supposed to be 103 here today. I think I've convinced the kids to skip Park Day, but we also have an outdoor dance and potluck this evening. I hope it cools down some.

I feel the same up here in the mountains too. We have harsh winters, the harshness only lasts a few months, but spring, fall and summer, oh it's nice. No humidity, and not too hot. All over there are different things that everyone has to deal with, weather wise. It's surprising what we can all deal with it. :)

WOW 112*, Now that is hot. We are just getting to hitting the 80's here in So. MO. Today I was putting our pool filter together to get that all set up. Have a great weekend

These temps don't usually hit until July-ish...yuck. And after 2 or 3 days, we're supposed to be in the 80's, maybe 70's?! Weird weather, to say the least. I don't envy your 113! Stay cool, and congrats to your dd on doing so well in her first semester!

Thank God for air conditioning indeed! We've had a cool May and I am actually looking forward to a warm up. That is odd for me to say! Oh, my step-mother is job hunting in Connecticut, so my AZ dad may be moving.

116 degrees?!! Lord, have mercy!! I'm sitting here complaining because it got up close to 100 here. I don't know how you live over there. Honestly. I know it's good in the other months, but during the summer, you'd just have to pick me up and plop me somewhere cooler. I always say the same about Phoenix and Tucson, too. It's just too hot for this girl there in the summer. I avoid it if at all possible!!

Yes, we do need to talk more. It seems like I've been so very busy, I haven't been able to keep in touch like I'd like. Hopefully, things will settle down soon.

Take care and don't melt! I hope I don't either! LOL

God bless ~ Julie
