Passion for Purple

We survived First Grade!!

It's been a long year but we have finally wrapped up our lessons!! There were many struggles this year and we are still not out of the woods yet, but when I look back at where we started, Brandon has really come a long way! His reading is getting stronger and I am learning to adapt to his learning style, making things easier for both of us. We started a Bible study late this year, so I will continue with those lessons through the summer.. We also got behind in Spelling, so we wil continue to work on that too.  I went through all his school stuff and got his second grade books in order. I enjoyed that!! To me it's exciting, getting it all organized. Our 15 year old grandson is coming to visit in a few weeks. We are looking forward to that . He's lots of fun. After he leaves, I will start reviewing material with Brandon working on some of his weaker areas (phonics). I plan to start second grade  towards the end of August or  first part of Sept. It will all depend on how he is progressing while we are reviewing. I am praying second grade goes a little smoother!! LOL

Feeling old-

It's hard to believe but my baby girl is turning 18 on July 4th! Where did the time go??? Brandon turns 7 in August. I am feeling OLD!! LOL

Prayers requested-

My mom is still in Oregon caring for her dying MIL She has been there since May 17th. . Please keep the family in your prayers.

Congrats on finishing the 1st grade. It always feels good to get another year behind you, doesn't it? Sounds like a fun time with your grandson. And I can't even imagine 18, thank goodness. I'm still trying to get use to 14. :) lol
Continuing to pray for your mom.

So does the next year bring big changes with it? Eighteen. Her age is finally catching up with her. :o) Congrats on finishing school! We are close behind you on finishing, but I am far from planning next year's school. Wishing for God to drop in my lap all the curriculum I am supposed to use.

Thursday, June 25, 2009 Helpful book on teaching

Posted by Steven Harris

I just finished reading an excellent book "Mentoring and Modeling - Developing the next generation" written by Dr. John Goetsch and Dr. Mark Rasmussen publish by Revial Books and West Coast Baptist College. A very worth while read and one that I would insist that any of my future teachers read. It is a good source of help for the future.
Anyway - well done!

Yay! Go Kristy! It does get easier. Eventually, they just give up when they know you are not going to. (Ha!) :-)

Still praying!

I loved the first grade, but I am now so looking forward to the 2nd grade. Brandon and LO are so close in age. I guess that is why they are doing everything at the same time. lol!! LO's birthday is Sept. 10th when he will be 7 years old.

Yeah!!! Congratulations on finishing your school year Kristy & Brandon!!! Enjoy some break before you get back into it. You mentioned learning style - so what is Brandon's learning style? Just curious.

I will pray for your mom & her MIL.

Have a good weekend!!
