My Focus

Posted on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 03:38 in My Personal Devotions and Poems

I wrote this poem last night right before I went to bed. I was thinking about the revival meeting that started up today, Sunday, at our church. I wanted to really be focused on what God had for me this week. It's ironic, however, I woke up with a cold or allergy attack (I am not sure yet). But I have blurred vision in my left eye & it's swollen.I look like I have pink eye, however I've had pink eye several times and I know this is not pink eye. It's the result of the sinus problem.  I am sneezing and very uncomfortable.  I am miserable from the symptoms. Well God is in control and I trust He knows what is best. So if He has allowed this to happen, then I believe there is something good coming and Satan is trying to distract me from it.

What Is My Focus?

What is my focus Lord, in everything I do?

Is my focus on the world, or my focus on You?

Is my vision blurred by the worldy things I see?

Am I not spending enough time with you, Lord, and on my bended knees?

Show me, Lord, what I need to see.

Let my focus be on You, Lord.

And never on me.

Move Me

Posted on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 05:49 in My Personal Devotions and Poems

It has been awhile since I've written a poem. Today one started circling my brain after this morning sermon.

Move Me

Move me, Lord out of my ways,

So I might receive your blessings today.

Let not my flesh lead me on,

Show me Lord what I've done wrong.

Forgive me, Lord, and show me straight,

The path that You want me to take.

My Poem

Posted on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 08:14 in My Personal Devotions and Poems

Brandon and I were discussing Noah's Ark and the rainbow. He was having a little trouble understanding God's promise regarding the rainbow. He thought the promise was only good if you could see the rainbow. We talked for a while, and I told him even though we can't always see the rainbow, God's promises are still there, and that is what faith is all about.  Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

We can't always see the Rainbow

Yet we know it's there.

God promised to be with us

through every woe and care.

His Word has many promises

That we can hold through our tears.

And like the Rainbow, that can't be seen

we know that He is near.

Children's Bill of Rights

Posted on Monday, November 24, 2008 at 10:10 in My Personal Devotions and Poems

A friend sent this in e mail. Enjoy

Poem to Mom

 Poem to MOM
My son came home from school one day,
With a smirk upon his face.
He decided he was smart enough,
To put me in my place.

'Guess what I learned in Civics class,
 that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today,
 The 'Children's Bill of Rights.'

It says I need not clean my room,
Don't have to cut my hair
No one can tell me what to think,
Or speak, or what to wear.

I have freedom from religion,
And regardle ss wh a t you say,
I don't have to bow my head,
And I sure don't have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want,
And pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
Get tattoos from head to toe.

And if you ever spank me,
I'll charge you with a crime.
I'll back up all my charges,
With the marks on my behind.

Don't you ever touch me,
My body's only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses,
 that's just more child abuse.

Don't preach about your morals,
Like your Mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control,
 And it's illegal too!

Mom, I have these children's rights,
 So you can't influence me,
Or I'll call Children's Services Division,
 Better known as C.S.D.'

Mom' s Reply and Thoughts

Of course my first instinct was
To toss him out the door.
But the chance to teach him a lesson
Made me think a little more.

I mulled it over carefully,
 I couldn't let this go.
A smile crept upon my face,
 he's messing with a pro.

Next day I took him shopping
 At the local Goodwill Store..
I told him, 'Pick out all you want,
 there's shirts & pants galore.

I've called and checked with C.S.D .
 Who said they didn't care
If I bought you K-Mart shoes
 Instead of those Nike Airs.

I've canceled that appointment
 To take your driver's test.
 The C.S.D. Is unconcerned
 So I'll decide what's best. '

I said 'No time to stop and eat,
Or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn
To make your own sack l u nch.

Just save the raging appetite,
 And wait till dinner time.
 We're having liver and onions,
 A favorite dish of mine.'

He asked 'Can I please rent a movie,
 To watch on my VCR?'
'Sorry, but I sold your TV,
For new tires on my car.
I also rented out your room,
 You'll take the couch instead.
 The C.S.D. Requires
Just a roof over your head.

Your clothing won't be trendy now,
 I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get,
 Will buy me something neat.

I'm selling off your jet ski,
 Dirt-bike & roller blades.
Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights',
 It's in effect today!

Hey hot shot, are you crying,
Why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out,
 Instead of C.S.D..?'

My Newest Poem.

Posted on Friday, October 31, 2008 at 08:20 in My Personal Devotions and Poems

Have you ever gotten down on your knees to pray and could not even form a thought? You know what you WANT to say but the words will not come. The emotion is there, perhaps overwhelming you, and all you can do is kneel, trying desperately to form a prayer that makes sense. This happens to me frequently, more so when I am weary or upset. I thank the Lord, that when I am tongue tied or confused or just plain weary, He hears me.The Holy Sprit interceeds for us when we can't speak the words. He knows what I can't say or can't think. I am thankful that it's not in the words that He hears our prayer, or in the swirl of emotion. or even, in the lack of emotion. I am just thankful that God can hear me, when I cant even speak.. Thank you God!

Let Your Heart Speak.

Songs within our hearts, the world can not hear.

Joys that can not be expressed

about things we hold most dear.

Our hearts sometimes struggle

Under a load of burden and cares

Earthly friends who love us deeply,

Those pains we can not share.

Jesus knows our every thought

Joyous happy or glad

He also knows the pain we feel

The ones that make us sad.

We don't need words to tell the Lord

The things that cause us pain.

We don't need words to tell the Lord

joys we wish to gain.

So let your heart tell the Lord

the things you can not say.

He knows the words you can not speak

and what you wish to say.

 Romans 8:26,27

 Kristy
