Madison County, Iowa Short on Republican Caucus Locations

CNN just reported that there are over 3,000 caucus locations in the state of Iowa.  There are 99 counties with approximately 8,000 precincts across Iowa.  Yet Madison County (population 15K) has only one Republican Caucus location.  For comparison sake, Hardin County (pop. 18K) has 5 Republican caucus locations and Hamilton County (pop 16K) has 7 different Republican caucus locations.   On the Dems side, both Madison and Hardin counties have 8 Democratic Caucus locations.

What does this mean?  It means that Madison County Republicans could have difficulty conducting an orderly and timely Republican caucus tonight.

Arrive EARLY!

Winterset High School Doors open at 6:00 pm.  You must be registered and checked-in with your precinct and in the auditorium by 7:00.

According to Madison County Treasurer, JoAnn Collins, the last Republican Caucus in Madison County hosted 400 people and they are planning for double that turnout this time.  Collins also confirmed that Madison County is relatively split between registered Republicans and Democrats.
