Concerned Citizen to Washington State GOP:
The Count Must Go On
Here's a copy of my e-mail to Washington State Officials, I'll let you know the response.
Dear Washington State Official:
Having read the Washington State GOP response (below), I would like to make it perfectly clear that a win is a win is a win, regardless of the the delegate count. If you do not do a full accounting and an accurate count of the "presidential preferences" of the delegates, then you will subject to legal action, as well as the disgust and disdain of the Republican party throughout the country. Get your act together and get it together now.
This is the official Washington State GOP response to inquiries that I read online:
"Please let me explain because there is a lot of confusion out there.
First of all, the counting was never stopped. We just haven't heard from all the precincts yet. The numbers continue to trickle in.
Second, there was no "vote" yesterday. All we did was elect delegates to their county conventions. The numbers we're reporting is the Presidential preference of those people. It's basically a straw poll. No delegates were won by any campaign. That doesn't happen until the state convention on May 31st.
Additionally, this is not a "winner take all" situation. It is very likely that Washington State will send delegates to the national convention for 2 or more candidates."
A Concerned Citizen and Outraged Republican

Jan. 13, 2008 - Don't believe the Negative Lies about Governor Huckabee's Record!
Don't believe the Negative Lies about Governor Huckabee's Record!
In Christian love, I say to you, see through the lies that have been circulating about Mike Huckabee.
Did he parole a murderer? No, he did not. Do the research and you'll find that it just isn't true.
Did he receive expensive gifts inappropriately as governor of Arkansas? No he did not. Do the research and you'll find that not one of these claims ultimately held up in court.
Did he raise taxes and make government bigger in Arkansas?
- Governor Huckabee is a fiscal conservative who cut taxes almost 100 times in the state of Arkansas. He doubled the standard deduction and the child care credit, eliminated the marriage penalty, repealed capital gains taxes for home sales, lowered the capital gains rate, expanded the homestead exemption and set up tax-free savings accounts for medical care and college tuition.
- The fact is that when Governor Huckabee began in office, the tax rate was 1% for the poorest taxpayers and 7 percent for the richest – the tax rates remained exactly the same when he left the governor’s office 11 years later. The sales tax only went up 1 penny in 10 ½ years and the gas tax 3 cents per gallon.
- Even the liberal New York Times said that the Club for Growth was distorting Governor Huckabee's record. Last week they wrote an article explaining how the tax increases were used to improve education and infrastructure in Arkansas.

Fellow Christian, I have personally met Governor Huckabee and I can tell you, in my opinion, he is exactly who he says he is. He is a humble man, promising to ask God for guidance each and every day of his Presidency. And that is exactly the kind of man that I want in the White House.

Jan. 4, 2008 - Electric Caucus and Congrats to Governor Huckabee!
Electric Caucus and Congrats to Governor Huckabee!
Last night at my caucus location in Madison County, 900 people crowded into a room designed for 350 and the energy was palpable. I had been worried about having 10 precincts together under one roof (thank goodness there wasn't a fire) but the result was an inspiring caucus. Here in Iowa, we can go back to normalcy and stop hob-nobbing with Presidential candidates.
So what do the results mean? It has been frustrating at times watching the media try to sort it all out. Generally, they didnt' seem prepared for Mike Huckabee to come out so far ahead, but here in Iowa, we are NOT surprised. I believe Mike Huckabee's support is not a fluke, and not limited to evangelicals. I get the feeling that his support of the FAIR TAX is turning some heads, as is his gift of communication.
As for prior front-runner Mitt Romney, his distant second place finish is the result of negativity that did not sit well with Iowa voters. Governor Romney found out that Iowa votes cannot be bought.
I'll be representing my precinct as a delegate to the County Convention in March and I hope to be selected as a delegate to our state convention later this spring. I love this wonderful process and I am proud to be an American exercising my right to elect my leaders.
Congratulations to Mike Huckabee and all of the dedicated supporters who made it happen last night!
Gladly, we'll pass the torch, for the race has been long and tiring here in Iowa. Be strong and keep the momentum going!
Sallie

Jan. 3, 2008 - Madison County, Iowa Short on Republican Caucus Locations
Madison County, Iowa Short on Republican Caucus Locations
CNN just reported that there are over 3,000 caucus locations in the state of Iowa. There are 99 counties with approximately 8,000 precincts across Iowa. Yet Madison County (population 15K) has only one Republican Caucus location. For comparison sake, Hardin County (pop. 18K) has 5 Republican caucus locations and Hamilton County (pop 16K) has 7 different Republican caucus locations. On the Dems side, both Madison and Hardin counties have 8 Democratic Caucus locations.
What does this mean? It means that Madison County Republicans could have difficulty conducting an orderly and timely Republican caucus tonight.
Arrive EARLY!
Winterset High School Doors open at 6:00 pm. You must be registered and checked-in with your precinct and in the auditorium by 7:00.
According to Madison County Treasurer, JoAnn Collins, the last Republican Caucus in Madison County hosted 400 people and they are planning for double that turnout this time. Collins also confirmed that Madison County is relatively split between registered Republicans and Democrats.

Jan. 2, 2008 - Mike Huckabee on Jay Leno- A Stand-up Job!
Mike Huckabee on Jay Leno- A Stand-up Job!
Appearing on Jay Leno tonight, Mike Huckabee delivered an OUTSTANDING performance. Huck was witty, real, articulate and came off as the President next door. Huckabee also had a chance to explain a little more about the FAIR TAX plan. I found myself smiling and laughing throughout the entire show.
Kudos also to Jay Leno who delivered a terrific monologue sans writers. I hope America was watching tonight!
