Jan. 1, 2008 - Mitt Romney's Media Ties
Mitt Romney's Media Ties
Bain Capital Partners, LLC (founded by Mitt Romney in 1984) is in the process of a $26.7 billion merger with Clear Channel Communications.
Clear Channel Communications (NYSE: CCU) is a media conglomerate company based in the United States. Clear Channel wields considerable influence in radio broadcasting, television, and fixed advertising through its subsidiaries. As the largest U.S. radio station owner, Clear Channel owns over 1,100 full-power AM, FM, and shortwave radio stations, twelve radio channels on XM Satellite Radio, and more than 30 television stations in the United States, among other media outlets in other countries.
I would like to know exactly what influence, financial or otherwise, Mitt Romney currently wields or will be likely to wield as a result of this merger.

Dec. 31, 2007 - Rockin' New Year's Eve Party with Mike Huckabee
Rockin' New Year's Eve Party with Mike Huckabee
I got a chance to chat with Mike Huckabee tonight at a lovely New Year's Eve shindig in Des Moines, Iowa. Here's a little excerpt of our conversation:
"Governor Huckabee, I'm voting for you in Thursday's caucus because I believe you will be a humble President, and that you will pray to God for guidance each and everyday."
"Sallie, I can promise you that I will."
Here's another shot of Governor Huckabee laying down a mean bass line a few minutes earlier.......

See you at the Republican Caucus on Thursday ! Go Huck!

Dec. 30, 2007 - Benazir Bhutto Assassination- The (Shots?) Heard Round the World......
Benazir Bhutto's Assassination- The (Shots?) Heard Round the World...
CNN reported this morning that Benazir Bhutto's 19 year old son would succeed her as party chairman, with his father (Benazir's husband) as a co-leader. This strikes me as absolutely absurd. Is this the best they've got? It is my understanding that the Presidential position in Pakistan is not a propped up figurehead. Can you imagine choosing the teenage son or daughter of a deceased Presidential candidate to succeed him or her in an election?
Pakistan represents a middle-eastern culture vastly different from western culture and it has never been more apparent than now, even as the actual cause of Benazir's death is hotly debated in Pakistan and across the globe.
What this world needs now is prayer, and lots of it. With terrorist extremists becoming stronger and bolder, and American political candidates spouting their various ideas for diplomacy or lack of it, we must acknowledge that any man or woman that we elect to office will not have all the answers, abroad or at home. As we go to the caucuses on Thursday, please choose a humble leader willing to ask God for guidance each and everyday.
That is why I'm caucusing for Mike Huckabee. A humble man who is willing to ask God for guidance each and everyday.
