Posted in Five on Friday
I actually could post about much more interesting stuff right now, except I don't have time to upload all the photos that would need to go with it. So instead, for this "Five On Friday", I am treating everyone to Five Random Happenings of the past few weeks. Some of these happenings will posted about in more detail later, when I have time for the photos.1. My Pastor's seven year old son fell out of a tree, OVER A TWO STORY HEIGHT, and gave everyone quite a scare. God must have had his hand on him though because he only suffered a minor pelvic fracture. He'll be on crutches a while, but is otherwise okay. Praise God. Tears still come to my eyes if I think about anything happening to the little guy. He is in my Sunday School class and is a student at our Co-op. Such a sweet little energetic boy.
2. The Death of the Cave Thing.
Alas, poor Cavey has met an untimely death, and unfortunately, Cavey Junior has been lost too. Those of you who have been following his life, will surely understand my despair! For more than 30 days, I faithfully went downstairs with two active children and checked on Cavey's progress. I successfully kept anything from disturbing Cavey in all his fragility. With two children present who participated in acrobatics involving balls and hula hoops only feet away from Cavey, I managed to not let anything happen to Cavey or Cavey Junior.
Then my husband went downstairs! Somehow, in the process of getting a drill that was in different part of room altogether, my dear husband bumped Cavey's table hard enough to send the saucer that was Cavey's home sliding across the table. Cavey is actually still there, but alas now that he has been disturbed he won't continue to grow anymore. Once you move a stalagmite from under its drip, you will never, ever get it in exactly the right position again. So there will be no more pictures of Cavey or Cavey Junior. For those of you who haven't seen Cavey before, see him on the last day that I photographed him (November 2nd.) By clicking here: Cavey and Cavey Junior.
3. HOMESCHOOL ART EXHIBIT.
My homeschool co-op has been very privileged with having an art class taught by an Artist who used to work for Disney Animation Studios. The woman is not only a talented Artist, but is also a very gifted teacher. She truly coaxed the best out of each child and helped all of them to produce the very best artwork within their abilities. Earlier this week we had an Art Exhibit at a local event hall. It was wonderful and some of the drawings were just unbelievable. There was a seven year old girl who drew a horse that truly looked like it had been done by a talented adult. Unless I get permission, I won't post pictures of anyone else's art except my children's, but at the very least I will be posting those very soon!
4. We finished our folder books. We have been making folder books (also known as lap books) about volcanoes, and today we finished them! Another thing to post pictures of later!
5. We've done several experiments, I have a lot of photos to upload, and one video. I just have to find the time to get them up. So check in again soon to see if they are up!
