An "Abstract" Photo

JESUS IS COMING SOON! MARANATHA LORD!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi friends, if you need to silence the music just hit the play/pause button on the player in the right sidebar, just below the black horse and the copyright notice.
Well, I've signed up to take a FREE ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE, and one of the assignments for the first lesson was to take an "abstract" photo that followed certain rules of composition. The idea behind an abstract photo is that it is so close up, that the object itself is difficult, if not impossible to identify. I took pictures of all sorts of things, and found that with most of them, I either didn't like the final effect, or the object was far to easy to recognize. In the process of shooting all these photos though, and constantly trying to apply the rules of good composition, I think I now have the rules fairly well embedded in my brain, which was, I think, the purpose of the assignment.
So here is the one photo I was most happy with for this assignment:
I know that there will be some things during this course that I just won't be able to do because I don't have an SLR, but I think I will be able to do a lot. My point and shoot is one of the best made, and it does have some manual settings for things like f-stop, aperture, white balance, etc. So I will do the best I can with what I have, and continue to pray that God will bless me with the CAMERA I REALLY WANT!
For now, I am going to learn all I can, so when I do get the CAMERA I REALLY WANT! I will be ready to use it. In the picture above, I utilized the rule of 3rds, and the concepts of rhythm, diagonals, and leading lines, of course most of those concepts were inherent in the object I photographed, but I did put the thought into selecting the object for those features.
Of course, I realize that the set I camera I really want might be a little out of reach, and I would be willing to settle for THIS ONE, or THIS ONE, but for now I will continue with mine and try to think of how I can stash away money!!! Perhaps my hubby will want to get me a REALLY COOL anniversary/birthday/Christmas gift this year (if he got me the CAMERA I REALLY WANT, or even one of the others along with a tripod, I wouldn't expect another gift all year! (Hint, hint, hint!)
There is another object I want to photograph for another abstract, so I'm off to take more pictures!
A record of our homeschooling journey (and my random thoughts), as we look to the Lord to show us the Path Of Life. We are a homeschooling family with a strong leaning toward the Classical and Charlotte Mason styles, but since we blend the two philosophies, along with whatever other ideas we like, we classify our homeschool as eclectic.
Our School Mascot
As you can see, my kids adopted a school mascot, feel free to feed him an apple or brush him by clicking on the button that says "more".
