***************************************************************************************************************************
This is a video I took awhile back, I think in March of this year. It is of my pastor singing some songs at church. I know he wrote one of the songs, and I think he wrote the other. Anyway, I am posting this because I don't have any pictures of him to post and I want to ask you to pray for him.
This is a man of God, with a kind heart, a joyous spirit, and a passion for Jesus that is infectious. He loves to worship in song, you can see it on his face whenever he worships the Lord. He has been used mightily in our Church, and in my own life. He has five children, two adopted teens and three young biological children. He has a wife who loves him dearly.
He has had a cough for a very long time, and just a week or so ago he went to the doctor. The doctor found spots on his lungs and some kind of growth on his thyroid. They don't know what it is yet.
He does not seem to be worried at all, as far as I can tell, he is resting completely in Jesus. Some of us are having a bit of a problem with this though!
I ask that you pray for his healing, knowing of course that God's will is sovereign over ours, we still are asked to pray for the sick. Also for his family, his kids and his wife, who stand to lose a lot more than anyone else involved in this. And for our church... none of us wants to lose him... I know I don't. His name is Joel.
So watch this video, and please excuse the background noise, I was just sitting in the congregation and I decided to start recording, mainly just to see what kind of quality I would get. I didn't plan on uploading it to YouTube and putting it on my blog.

YES HE'S A GOOD MAN,
STILL PRAYING FOR HIM AND FAMILY
I SURE WISH PEOPLE WOULD PAY MORE ATTENTION DURING WORSHIP, THEY DON'T SEEM TO LISTEN TO THE WORDS AND KEEP
MOVING, sorry I had to say that, God bless

It does seem like that, but this wasn't really part of the "regular" worship. The pastor had said he wanted to share some songs with us, none of us had heard the songs before so we couldn't really sing along. We were just sitting back and listening at that time. I think if you saw the church during worship you would see a lot more people involved. Plus, I had kids sitting in front of me and on either side, that didn't help much.

Oct. 5, 2008 - It is God's total will to heal

It is us people that get in the way of His will. I believe his peace and resting in Jesus is the right and perfect thing for a Shepard of his flock to be doing. Anything else would be against the word of God.

Yes, I am glad he is resting in Jesus. I just meant that some of us were having a little bit of a hard time being so relaxed about it. I praise God that my Pastor's faith is not shaken by this, and I know that He is in control and will take care of it all in whatever way He thinks best. I just want to continue praying for healing unless God definitely says "NO".

Oct. 9, 2008 - Joel

I have prayed for him this morning. I do pray that God will do what will glorify Himself the most. I do know that when we surrender God moves. May this time of prayer from the body of believers in Joel's life be a time for God to do a miracle.
I am so happy to hear about your walk too. I pray that this will be a time for you to grow further in trust in God for all things.
Bless you friend and sister in Christ!

Oct. 9, 2008 - WHAT?!?!?!

Ok, so I just got a chance to read some of the posts here and I am surprised. What on earth does it matter what the congregation is doing? Church is not about fitting into a role. I would rather people just be who and what they are and where they are at than to fake it.
I have seen countless worship services where people look so polished and worshipful and yet as soon as church is over, you'd never know that they were one of His. Perhaps they are not.
I am just sad because here we have an opportunity to come together and pray for a man who may be potentially dealing with cancer and going home to glory but leaving broken hearts behind and we have an opportunity to witness a miracle. You know, it's a miracle either way!!! We can't lose! If he should die, which I hope is not the case, he is going HOME!!!! We will see the redemption of a soul! If God heals him then we see a miracle here on earth and his ministry continues.
But what do we do? We focus on the temporal and non-important things. Folks, let's not assume what another church is or isn't by what we see in a short and small clip. Let's not pick apart what has been requested here if it is phrased right or not. The point is clear. Pray for what will glorify God the most and be bold to ask for healing. God is faithful, He knows what is best for everyone involved, let's trust Him to sort it out.
Don't let those comments throw you. I know you won't but thought you should have some actual encouragement that someone is praying like you asked.
