I went by our homeschool office to get some paper work for something and they were having a sidewalk sale on some textbooks from their bookstore.
Well, I got "Exploring Tennessee" a Tennessee Curriculum and Field Trip guide by the Notgrass Family, it was $45 and they took 50% off, so I got it for $22.50!!! It is not required for our students to take it but I like to teach Tennessee history sometime during the middle grades years and so my 7th gr daughter is going to go through this for this school year starting.
Just looking through it, it seems very interesting and it will be fun to learn about our state. It also comes across as it will not be "hard" to teach, not alot of pre-prep needed before each lesson.
There are 30 weekly units for the year and of course each unit has 5 lessons for each week.Once each week, the handwork sheet(they call it) is for the Bible lesson.
Any text that startes out with "Unit 1 - God made Tennessee" has got to be good !!
I will be posting as we go through this and let you know good it gets. I can't wait to learn new things about our state that we have not found out about yet.
I think I'm going to do TN History as a high school elective. When you get done with it, if you won't need it again, let me know and I'll buy it from you. I was going to buy this anyway in a few years!
Hey, sister on the other side of the state...where's mine???? jk This sounds like a great resource. We do Tennessee history in 4th grade as do the state run schools, so that means littlest is doing TN history NOW, so really, I don't need it. But I love to learn about my state (I'm an Indiana transplant...been here 12 years though)
