BYE BYE! Flaxseed

Well today was not a good day. Even witht he flaxseed reduced I suffered from stomach cramps for about 8 hours. YUCK> My dear friend Prairie Lady read to me today about flaxseed not to be used if you have had stomach ulcers or gall bladder problems. I have had both in the past.

 

I have decided to drop this part of my detox.

Results of week 1 detox

Well, I survived week 1 of my detox. I actually felt pretty good until Friday. I had noticed prior to that some tummy cramping after taking my ground flaxseed. Thursday evening I had a lot of cramping and the same Friday morning. Friday night was horrible and by Saturday I was feeling totally under the weather. I tried to put the ground flaxseed on my salad at dinner and it did not help the cramping started again and this time it was horrible. I felt bad all of Sturday and most of Sunday with flu like symptoms which according to the detox is all signs the detox is working. I actually slept most of Saturday and slept in very late Sunday morning. I was feeling a bit better Sunday night and a bit better today.

 

I skipped the flaxseed all day Sunday. I took 1/2 the recommended amount this morning and was doing ok but the cramping is starting again. So, is the cramping necessary for the detox or do I cut the flaxseed altogether? That is the question. I handle the oil alright but not the ground flaxseed. I think I will find an alternative for this.

 

Results last week. Lost 3 pounds, sleeping has improved.

Update on week 1 of detox so far

The detox has not been to hard to stick to. Probably because I had already been doing low carb and adding fruit back has been a treat. I have been getting stomache cramping after have the cran-water with flaxseed in the morning and evening. I choose not to do the mixture last night or this morning. I will add some flaxseed to my dinner salad instead and see if it is easier on my tummy if taken with food.

 

I am not sleeping through the night yet. I do feel pretty good, not getting sluggish in the afternoon and omiting naps. I did sleep a solid 4 hours last night.

I will be doing a liver detox the next 2 weeks

The next 2 weeks I be doing a liver detox. This will mean strick eating habits and exercise guidlines. Here is the basics of my plan.

Eating;
No Sugar
Only Stevia
1 pinch of salt per meal
No Pork
No dairy including cheese
No process foods
No grains
Taking Supplements
Adding flaxseed oil and ground flaxseed to my daily routine
I do get to eat certain fruit party guy
Drink Detox Tea
Drink hot lemon water before Bfst
Drink a mixture of Cranberry juice and water through the day. A total of 64 ounces.
Eat eggs daily (eggs rich in omega 3)
4 ounces of protein at dinner and lunch
Eat all veggies except potatoes

Exercise:
Around 30 Minutes 5 -7 days
Low Impact exercise (I am not allow to let my heart beat go above my 60% max rate) This allows the antioxidants to heal my liver, not my muscles after a difficult workoput
No strength training

Sleep at least 8 hours. I am going to try and go to bed earlier and get up earlier.

I am doing because I may have a fatty or sluggish liver. I do have many sympthoms that could point to this problem. I am doing the detox to try and jump start my liver just in case I do have a problem.

After 9 weeks of low carb I lost about 13 pounds.

I lost 13 pounds the 9 weeks of doing low carb. I did take a few days off and was exercsiing as well. I lost 11.75 inches. I went from a tight size 14 to a size 10. I do still have a spare tire as I have fat around my belly. My next post will tell the new eating plan I am doing and why. I wanted to update this post just for my own records.

How did I do the month of May?

I thought I would update for the month of May. I have done low carb the entire month of May. I did take one day off this week because we were traveling then I did very low carb the next day. I am still doing well on exercise. Except for the week I had Jury duty I am still exercising 6 days a week (I am now on week 13 of consistant exercising). The week of Jury duty I only got 5 days in.

I plan taking my measurements again on Monday. When I weight last Monday May 26 I had lost 8 pounds since doing low carb.

I am keeping my carb count 25 or less.

My goal now is to loss another 32 pounds. This will put me at the weight I was at in 1996 when my weight struggle began.

This is week 2 of low carb

This is week 2 of keeping my carbs under 20. I am experiencing some problems with it.

I am getting headaches and I am very tired in the afternoon. After doing some research I think it is because I was way low on my carb intake on Monday and Tuesday. I am now trying to increase the carbs and add an additional salad each day.

I choose to do low carb because I think my body is being resistant to weight loss and I felt like I have 2 choices to try and jump start my metabolism. The first is to go low carb. The second was to drop my calories down to 1200. I choose low carb because I do not like being hungry and I felt on 1200 calories I would be very hungry.

Last week was very encouraging and I hope this week will be as well.

My daughter and I were able to make a low carb cheesecake to help statisfy my snack urges.

Last week (Week 9) results and week 10 goals

I reached both goals. I exercised 6 days and kept my daily carbs below 20.

Although going low carb is hard. It was worth it I lost 3 pounds.
Now I am motivated to go another week on low carb.

I also measured today. It has been 4 weeks since I measured and I am very happy with the results.

Here are the results.

Hip to Hip (I measure from 1 hipbone to the other) -1.5"

Week 9 Goals - I am going low carb

This week I have decided to go low carb. I am doing this to push my body over this hump. I have been reading that when you do low carb you begin to lose weight in your mid section. I am hoping to get rid of the love handles.

I am back into my size 14's again after gaining weight and moving up to 16's. I am giving my 16's away because I am not going back to them.

My goals are to exercise 6 days and keep carbs under 20 grams each day.

 

Monday - No exercise, carbs 14

 Tuesday - 50 Mins exercise, carbs 11

No CaffieneAlthough I struggled a couple of days with sugar the week came out fairly well.

I exercised 6 days and average cals was 1598.

I lost 1 pound.

Week 6 and week 7 results

Week 6 went well I exercised 6 days and averaged 1551 calories for the week. I decided to cut out all pop and to reduce my sugary snacks. I accomplished this goal.

Week 7 I exercised 6 days. As far as eating goes I took 2 days off while on a ladies retreat. I did portion my food on the retreat and tried to not over eat the snacks but I did endulge myself. Who could pass up home made truffles. Not me. I did well the rest of the week on sugar. I still not drink any pop.

 Weekly Average Calories were 1319 for the 5 days I counted.

I dropped caffiene this week and as well.

Friday was a struggle but I did well

Last week (week 5) went well. I met both of my goals I did exercise 6 days with a minuim of 45 Minutes each day and my average calorie intake was 1684. I did lose 2 pounds which puts me 1 pound under the weight I started at 5 weeks ago.

 

This week ( week 6) my goals are exercise 6 days adding abs of steel 3 days. My Average Calories goals is to keep it under 1650. I will not drink any pop and reduce sugar.

 

Today is Saturday so far I have done well this week. No POP  This is huge for me. I am a person who enjoys my pop. I stopped drinking diet pop last April so I have been pretty good at limiting myself to 1 can a day of regular caffiene free pop. Giving up this 1 can is hard  but I want to get metabolism jump started.

 

I have been doing well on reducing sugar. Most days so far I have had a few red hots and about 4 hershey's kisses.

 

I have exercised every day so far and have added my abs twice. I will exercise today and do abs as well.

 

Friday was indeed a struggle as my dh was not in the best mood because of lack of sleep and it put me in a crumby mood for awhile. I tried real hard to not let this effect my eating and I did achieve that  . Since I am an emotional eater I feel like this was an accomplishment for me. I also did not feel like exercising but I forced myself to do that as well.

 

It is now Saturday. I feel better emotionally and hope when dh gets up he will feel rested. I am praying he will sleep most of the day and catch up on his sleep.

Day 2 Week 5

Tuesday - I did not drink any pop to make up for yesterday. I did well on Calories however, I did not eat enough veggies. I did eat fruit, just need to up my veggie count. I added level 3 to my cardio max workout and it was tough to get through but, I made it.  I ate a sundae cone and had a helping of kisses yesterday. I am going to try and limit my sugary snacks to one helping a day and 1 can of pop.

Exercise - 50 Minutes Cardio Max

Weekly Average so far 1700 (needs to be in 1600's)

Week 5

This is the beginning of week 5. I increased my exercise yesterday to level 3 in the power sculpt. It was a great workout. Yesterday my eating was not so good. I drank 2 servings of pop. I limit my self to one. I also kinda picked most of the day with only one real meal. I need to do much better today. I really feel my metabolism has kicked into high gear. Since Friday I am almost always hungry all the time. I even have had to get up in the early morning to eat an oatmeal bar. The scale showed 1 pound weight loss however I gained 2 last week so that does not mean much to me.

Trying to Update

I know it has been a while since I updated this blog. I am not real good at keeping up with my blogs.

 

Since November I unfortunately regained some of my weight.

 

I am getting my focus back on getting healthy. I have been exercising 6 days a week using the Biggest Loser DVD's. As well as keeping my calories in the 1600's as an average each week. I have been doing both of these things for 4 weeks. I set a 6 week goal and at the end of the 6 weeks I will re-evaulate my goals.

 

As of the beginning of week 4 I had actually gained 2 pounds. Although there is no doubt I have lost inches. I will weight Tomorrow (Monday) and see what my body accomplished in week 4. I hope to measure as well.

 

Next week I will up my workouts to level 3 and will exercise 6 days for 50 Minutes each day. Calories will still be a weekly average in the 1600's.

 

I am going to try and use this blog to post my struggles so I can have a place to record my thoughts and feelings.

 

One day last week I lost my battle with chocolate but my cal count for the week still balanced out.

Goals for this week
My goals are the same - weekly average less than 1450 calories, exercise 6 days with at least 3 days 60 Minutes. Now I will add abs on days I am not doing pilates or another dvd with abs in it.

Days 20 thru 26

I lost 3 pounds last week. Clapping Clapping

Goals for this week
My goals are the same average less than 1450 calories, exercise Tuesday thru Saturday. Now I will add abs on days I am not doing pilates or another dvd with abs in it.
New goal - exercise at least 60 Minutes on 3 days or more.

As far as the lst week's challenge: cut dessert in half I will try. My current snack has been something I can not really cut in half. So my goal will be to either drink pop or eat my snack each day. I will stcik to this.

Challenge for the Week- Go to the store and find a veggie or fruit you have never had. Take it home and search it online if you need a recipe... And try something new
