I've mentioned being a bit ADD. I don't know about these modern labels. Maybe they have to do with modern times, ya think? I don't know. I do know that we live in complicated times with complicated schedules. There are things a plenty to get distracted with.
All of these things can detract from vision.
It's January. Many people use January to focus on new resolutions, or old ones that need to be revisited once again. I gave up on January 1 resolutions a long time ago, and I try and think of things I need to work on throughout the year. However, I admit, I do give it more thought throughout January, because others are talking about it -- and it's habit.
I'm a great goal setter, but not such a great goal achiever. For example, I've tamed the laundry monster in the past -- only to have the wretched beast looming over me, taunting me, bringing me down. Why? I didn't keep the "vision" in front of me. Truth be told, to keep the laundry monster tamed, it has to be tended to on a very regular basis. Turn your head for a moment, and that thing wakes up hungry.
It's part of being a Prov. 31 woman. Preparedness. Tending to the things that need to be kept up. To do so, I must have vision and keep that vision before me.
Just like there are really only the 3 R's to tend to in school -- keep with the basics, and add to that if you can -- there are 3 areas of "must happen" in our homes.
1. We must eat.
2. We must have clothes to wear.
3. We must have shelter.
So, to tend to these three -- the third being cleaning and maintaining for us in the ways a woman does, repair and such would be our husband's. We must keep on it! Menu planning and laundry have to take a high priority in our homes. Keeping our homes clean and efficient. Then we can add to that. School would come next, for me.
Of course, all of this is always with the Lord's help. But I must not get distracted from my duties here. I must give them the time they need, or they will not get done. I must keep the vision before my eyes.
