water aerobics

well whoever thinks water aerobics is a sissy exercise ....I'm here to tell ya...you are WRONG....WOW...I did an hour long water exercise class tonight with my oldest daughter  while the other 2 kids swam laps....she & I both are sore & exhausted tonight.....i never realized the different things you can do in the water.....& she and I both left at first feeling like well that was it...that is all....kinda disappointed...a bit of a let down...I suppose since you aren't getting the sweating effect, I know you sweat but do to being in the water it is different...it felt like we didn't do as much as a regular aerobics class........but about 2 hours later the effects of it started showing up.....we are SORE......i bet we are REALLY sore come morning..

so I asked my daugher how she liked the class...her comment I really liked...it was fun...but...i knew there was gonna be a but in there somewhere....but " it was really weird being in there with all those old people".....ok so we were the youngest people there...there were about 2 ladies in I'd say their 40's the rest of the women were well after retirement age...and then I asked her well how do you think the poor lonesome ONE MAN felt??? LOL..she thought about it & said well he must feel weird being there too, but it was fun mom....so I asked if she would want to do the class again...she said yes without a doubt.....and the class is only $3 a class or $30 a month...but the lady running the class said my kids can do it FREE with me!!!!

no obligations to come every day ...only when you want to... M W F....so we might make this a regular weekly thing.

oh we also had another bike ride today...I made it about twice as far as yesterday...woohoo...at this rate I may make it down the road to the donkeys by June 2009...lol

I'm old and out of shape...

Well I used to ride a bike...I still can........proved it to my kids this afternoon....since all 3 kids can now ride they have been in the bike riding mode...and of course they want me to go too......so I hauled my fat but up on my bike today...and I rode...and I rode...and then I pedaled right back home....all tucker out...and sweating up a storm.....then the kids went out on a REAL bike ride.....big bro is capable of watching out for them.....no way could I make it as far as they can. I figured my short little ride down to the neighbors was way far enough for me for a first day.......no wonder I like swimming....I don't sweat like a pig when swimming.

So maybe, hopefully, prayerfully in time  I can make it farther without collasping from exhaustion...but today the ride I took was far enough for this Mama.

But the swimming I can do....and do well...I like swimming...I don't collaspe from exhaustion when swimming...I just breath hard when swimming....that is good enough for this gal

well at least I proved I CAN still ride a bike...hmph

Good Health

I'm on the weight loss thing again...and at the worst possible time of year, huh!
I really do need to get healthy and that is my goal....not just weight loss but good health!
 
My goals for now..
cardio 30 minutes a day.....even if broken up into more than once a day.
yoga tape 3 times per week
cut sugar &  white flour..to a minimum
 
We are going to go back to dessert night...once a week we will have dessert and the kids get a say so in what we have...other than that no sweets in the house...I can't have sweets laying around..I just can't.

Back at the diet

Well actually I have been back at it for a week+ now...I just need to exercise more.
 
I have changed how I think of preparing meals in my mind.
now instead of what main thing are we having & the veggies & sides to go with it I now think what VEGGIE am I gonna fix and what are we gonna have to go with that...:
 
There have been many nights for dinner I have had those new steam fresh bags of veggies cooked in the microwave for dinner and that is ALL I have had and been completely full and satisfied....just added a little light butter & seasonings for flavor.
 

We have been going swimming at least once a week...wish we could afford to go more often, but we are at the mercy of friends to get on the base pool which is only $1.75 per person......where as the city pool is anywhere from $2-$5 per person depending on when you go....and when you are paying for 4 ppl to swim that adds up.

I'm not weighing...just eating better and trying to be more active.

I did it...

I stepped on the scales this morning....

It says ........I lost 4 lbs.

 
I don't feel 4 lbs lighter, but that is ok, I'll take it.
 
What I do feel is not as tired, I do have more energy and my knee which I do still have trouble climbing the stairs\steps with is not AS bad as it was.....nothing major but I do see a difference.

My morning exercises are completed for the 2nd day in a row! 

It might not be a lot but it is more than I was doing before!

Done=

25 minutes of walking   

5 minutes of stretching

5 minutes of toning
