We went fishing the last time dad was home....can you guess who caught the most?
the first fish of the day..big brother was helping her get it off the hook then a horrible thing happened...she caught ANOTHER one...BUT before I could get the pic the fish lept off the hook & back into the water..but I promise ALL saw she did catch the second fish!
now it is big sis's turn to catch one..not that you can see it very well in this pic...but there is a TINY little fish on that line...  back to little sis's turn
 and another...can ya tell dad is getting a little miffed back there...he hasn't caught ANYTHING..of course neither has big brother nor myself... So Sarah was the big winner in the fishing department that day...then we had hamburgers\hotdogs & smores...was a fun evening had by all of us...can't wait for next time!

I was filling out a questionaire...it asked my age group...now normally on these things I'm grouped in like 25-40 ish group....but being grouped all the way up to the 54 year olds...ugh....that made me feel ...well......feel.....OLD.........who comes up with these things...i'm not OLD...I'm just ...old....according to my kids...but hey 30 something is not OLD... My oldest 2 kiddos are going to 7-up club tomorrow night...I need to bring a sweet & a savory snack...hmmm...what to bring, what to bring...and it must be something that is already in the house..because the paycheck...was...well lets just say...it ain't pretty.....the sweet no biggie...the savory, that is a bit harder....any ideas?

It has been a VERY stressful week for us around here...and I'm afraid it isn't ending anyway soon....a very long story short..hubb had an accident in the big truck, truck was totaled...3 vehicles in the accident.. another accident a minute behind his accident & 2 vehicles in that one....no one seriously hurt. Hubb did receive a careless operation ticket...even though 2 witnesses plus the cop all said the accident was unavoidable...but you know the trucker always gets a ticket......so we are in limbo around here...still don't know if he will have a job once he gets back to AR. ...don't know how bad this will hurt his driving record.....we think we should try to fight the ticket ...oh it is just a HUGE MESS...please keep us in your prayers..we like this job, we'd like to stay with this trucking company. So since this happend school has kinda been on the back burner this week, yes we have done school, but we haven't done anything hard or new..kwim...it was an easy week....and somehow tomorrow we really need to get back in there & hit the books, but my heart is just not in it....i will have to make myself be into it so the kids will be. So I have not spent any $ that hasn't been absolutely necessary...who knows by the end of the week if we will have a job....I hate this...it is so scary...I just keep praying & I'm trying really hard to not worry but it is really hard. We on another subject, the weather is beginning to be MUCH more Fall like ...the cold fronts have begun...the Northern winds are definately showing their ugly faces in the mornings...last Friday as I was in the bathroom getting ready to leave for the day I felt this BBRRRR...apparently as the kids when out to feed the animals the door didn't catch & the cold wind was making its presence know IN THE HOUSE...bbrrrr. Co-op is going well for the most part...but the spring co-op will be slightly different..we are going to change to every other week instead of weekly....me thinks me gonna like this!!!! And we will begin at 8:30..ending at 1:30 instead of 2:00...me REALLY thinks me likes that!!! I am extremely happy to have my WORKING computer back....wow...you really don't know how much you depend on it until it is gone. It seems so much later than it is tonight...feels like it is 10:30 not 8:30....time changes in 2 weeks right? yep i think so...that will be so much fun...NOT...I'll be 2 months trying to get adjusted to that.. well I'm off to fold & put away Mt. Neverest...

We have worked, worked, and worked around here today..
D worked outside while the girls & I cleaned
Oh an I fixed lunch (chili dogs ) and I fixed a nice dinner too....hamburger patties(seasoned with bell pepper & herb rub) sour cream & chives mashed potatoes & steamed veggies....and the kitchen is all cleaned up & ready for tomorrow!!!!
so what now????
I'm going to go sit at the kitchen table ..the CLEAN kitchen table & work on our new chore schedule...the house is clean ..I want to keep it that way! |

I'm not going ANYWHERE today~~~ I love days I get to stay home all day...and according to the weather channel..the weather is going to be beautiful today...so we are burning trash this morning. We'll get the trash started when we go out to feed animals, then come back in & start on school. We hit a small snag on D. being able to get the panels done on the chicken coop.......we ran out of oxygen...eek...so now we have to wait until hubb comes home again..that is ok there are plenty of other projects to be worked on around here...like the DOG PEN. I love the Fall....the weather starts cooling off, the leaves change...the air is just so...nice...and you don't have to run the air conditioner all the time.I love opening the windows & getting a breeze through the house....not to mention saving me money on the electric bill. We have coop tomorrow...and afterwards we are going swimming...can't wait!! I bought the book Managers of their homes http://www.titus2.com/ Yesterday while D was at guitar lessons & the girls were at choir I sat in the car making a list of all the chores I could think of that we do around here...I divided them into daily , weekly & monthly....today I'm going to take the daily & divide them into morning & evening chores & divy them out to the kids & myself...then make up a new chore chart....the kids & I had this discussion...yes, they do help around here...that is NOT my point..my kids are VERY helpful...but I feel like a broken record(yes I remember those) always telling them to do this, do that....so the thought went through my head....you people can all READ....I'm putting the chore lists back up on the wall, that way all I have to do is point! We have done the schedule thing before, but now I'm making it MUCH more detailed. I would love to see the Maxwell's book managers of their chores...but not sure I want to pay for it....I'm being VERY frugal these days...I have no choice but to be frugil....money is very tight. STARBUCKS...our Starbucks is offically CLOSED...sniff, sniff...not that I went all that often, but just knowing that I could made me feel better..kwim..I so enjoyed startbucks & it took us so long to get one...then they went & closed it ..it wasn't even open a full year...a sad sad day ...:( So you know hslda sent out this message about starbucks offering a free coffee on Monday...not happening in my world...and I was so ready for my free coffee...sniff, sniff

Yes, I know it is early, but ....I also have no $$....money is very tight around here..in fact my 16 yr old son has more money than I do...and with the bills we have coming up over the next few months, I don't see things getting better soon. So I told my kiddos straight up...Christmas, IF we have presents will be VERY small this year...so I've been thinking WHAT do we do for Christmas.......will be thinking on that one for a little while
so if someone walked into my son's room they would think one of 2 things
or 2. we are rich both of which are SO not the case...
he is just very "into" what he likes ...and what he likes is guitars.....lots of guitars..well if he had the money & the room he would have drums too but right now we are talking about guitars.... he bought a piece of wood, cut, routered, stained, clear coated this wood & hung it on his wall to hang his collection of guitars on ....which he already has his eye on ANOTHER guitar....he has 4 already, isn't 4 enough?....but HE has bought all of them except for the little backpacker guitar

I shouldn't complain...he isn't buying video games anymore..I think he out grew that phase...thank you for outgrowing that stage... So now he is obssessed with saving for a pick up truck....good thing because i'm not buying it for him! |

My hubby is coming home this weekend, we are going to see Tim Hawkins http://www.timhawkins.net/ in "the city".......no, not New York City.......... that is what we down here in our little corner of the world call Oklahoma City...because you know we live in hick-ville USA. My kids can't wait, and me...I just like the idea of getting to go to the city for a day ...I'm figuring it as my anniversary get away...yeah so the kids are with us, that is ok...we will have fun....I want to go to The Olive Garden ...just for the soup salad & breadsticks...YUM-O...I joked with the kids that I was gonna drop them at McDonald's & we would pick then back up after we had breadsticks...ok so they didn't appreciate the joke much.....the looks I got them them...you would have thought I said I was going to Disney Land without them....geeze so touchy. So back to why I need a swift kick....my house....it looks like a tornado went through here, we gotta get busy this morning & get things cleaned UP...if my hubby came home & saw this house looking like this he would have a cow..and maybe a few pigs too.. So I mentioned anniversary...we just made 18 years together...wow...18 years...that is a long time...18 years & 3 kids...hmm...and a whole bunch of animals...lol..including Rex..the amazing flip flop eater....if a shoe is missing find Rex, he has it...

September has to be my favorite month....I do love September weather.... The sun is not burning a hole through you, but yet I'm not freezing to death either. I was sitting on my friend Michele's front porch yesterday waiting on her to get home to give A. her piano lesson (we went early so the girls could play together.) The day was just gorgeous...no wind, clear blue sky, the temperature was just perfect....not too hot, not too cold.I could handle days like that every day of the year. Something keeps buzzing around here & I can't figure out what it is... Today we are home all day expect for a birthday party this evening...and guess where the party is....AT THE POOL....we are gonna freeze our batooties off...lol...but I can't wait...I'm gonna dive in that pool & swim like no tomorrow...I haven't been swimming in 2\3 weeks and I miss it....I miss the movement & ease of pushing myself though the water, but then knowing I have done myself good by exercising....So why haven't we been swimming...the weather...it has been raining & ya know for some weird reason the lifeguards won't let you swim in the rain~~
There it goes again..buzz, buzz Rex, the new pup, um..dog..umm whatever he is ...he is driving me INSANE...ok well not just him, it is his PLUS the other 3 dogs together....3 dogs underfoot in the house is one thing...4 dogs underfoot in the house is TOTALLY ANOTHER...it just makes me want to throw them all out the door when they start playing...which I do...but the problem is our back yard is not escape proof at all & we can't just open the door & say "go play"....we have to watch them to make sure nobody gets in the road...we live way to close to the road for my liking...sigh...so on the to do list...ya know that famous list that NEVER gets finished...is make a secure area that the dogs can not get out of in the back yard....which is a problem all on its own, since we have the mazing houdini..SUGAR
.. who only weighs 3.6 pounds...if she really sets her mind to it she can squeeze though the cyclone fencing...my mil suggested getting a playpen & cutting out the bottom for her....ok while it might work.....umm sounds VERY redneckish...too redneckish for me...lol..not that I'm above being a redneck, because believe me this house reeks of redneck..lol So my thought was taking sheet metal & weaving it through the poles of the cyclone along with burying fencing so the digging dog(that would be Trixie the corgie mix)
can't dig her way out...always has to be a digger....then I'll have to either buy or build another dog house, because our big igloo dog house is being used..umm for the goats...lol...hey it works, it is the boys home...we have pigmys they are small & the igloo is perfect for them...they aren't complaining. So any thoughts on how to escape proof a back yard...that won't cost a small fortune?? So none of this has to do with September...where was I ...September...ah yes....the leaves have not changed colors yet, the cotton is not being picked yet...so the allergies are not making me COMPLETELY miserable YET...that comes in October...I can sit on my porch & enjoy the birds singing...S. saw a hummingbird really close up yesterday! I can walk out & play with the goaties & the chickies in shorts & not be shivering...next month..not so much...so I'm going to enjoy my September....and dread the cold coming months. Oh and we now have 5 baby chicks again...I just love baby chicks...and I love even more that they are ALL GIRLS....banded pullets...what a wonderful thing...no roosters!!....we are regularly getting 2 eggs a day...sometimes 3 but for sure 2...ok I have 6 chickens...why am I only getting 2-3 eggs a day.....hmm...gonna have to go read chickens recipes to those girls of mine I suppose. |

One day, a financially comfortable father decided to take his son to the country, with the purpose of showing him how poor people live, and that the son could understand the value of things, and realize how fortunate they were.
They stayed overnight at a very humble family's farm for 1 day and 1 night. As the trip ended, and during their return home, the father asks his son:
So what did you think of the trip?
It was great, dad!
Did you see how poor and needy some people have to live?
Yes!
And what did you learn?
I saw that we have one dog in the house, but they have four.
We have a huge swimming pool, but they have a river that never ever ends.
We have imported lamps in the patio, they have the stars.
Our backyard ends at the fence, but theirs goes on and on into the horizon.
Especially though, dad, I saw that they have time to talk to each other
and live as a family.
You and Mom have to work all day, and I hardly see you both!

We had a joint birthday party for the girls this summer...we don't normally do friends bday's...we are more just family party people, but i caved this year...next year we are back to homemade cakes & just family!

I know my blogging is sporatic, but when I do make\find the time i do enjoy it. We have been working on the chicken coop most evenings along with watching the olympics...I really do enjoy the olympics, but I'll be really glad when they are over too...it makes we want to stay up late to watch them and then I don't want to get up early & get things done and yes I am a morning person....if it isn;t done by noon forget it It isn't happening in my world that day. My youngest FINALLY(yeah!!!!)learned to ride her bike....she can do it all....starting & stopping...all of it....finally...we have been years trying to help her learn but she just wasn't ready....10 years old and finally can ride her bike! Sooooooo.......where does this lead me...e-v-e-r-y-s--i-n-g-l-e-d-a-y-..mooooooomm...oh mmmmoooooooooommmmmm...can we go on a bike ride, please, please...can we all go ride bikes.....ok....not so thrilled that she knows this bike riding thing now....sigh.... until next time..... |

I have figured it out...the minute you say the words bed and time they think it is time to start asking questions, needing the go to the bathroom, needing hugs, instantly the guitar needs to be practiced, the piano needs to be done a little bit longer, and of course they need a drink...those teeth need to be brushed....and on and on and on....so tomorrow morning I'm telling my kids GOOD NIGHT......and tomorrow evening....it will be time to RISE & SHINE....shaking my head....no I don't think it will work but I'm gonna give it a try.. |

I have finally come to the conclusion that I need ME TIME.....my kids are old enough & smart enough to fend for themselves for a little while..I need something for me.......and me only I am a nicer, friendlier, all around better person when I have me time...no matter what it is a do during this time......but I have realized I need to release tension...I need to either exercise in some form or break things...they both make me feel better..I was watching a show on tv, & they were telling about this place where people come in and throw plates & brake them...I was like "I WANT TO DO THAT"....and people PAY for this..heck yeah I'd pay for it...they clean up the mess..and I can break plates all I want...shoot you betcha I'd pay for it.....and I'd think I would enjoy it. So the next time I feel like breaking something I think I'll just head outside & throw a plate at a wall....hmm, now I just gotta find a place I can do this and not have to clean up after myself...because that would completely ruin the entire concept.

if you raise the thermostat we sweat to death...if we lower it we freeze....is there NO happy medium????
WHY am I the ONLY person in this house who can put a new roll of tp on the roller thingie?? Why do ppl put the ice trays back in the freezer EMPTY???? at least if they put them on the table I would know there is NO ICE....ggrrrrr why is it that if I ask a child to do something i feel like I am talking to a BRICK WALL????? well geeze maybe moms wouldn't nag if ppl would do as they are asked the FIRST time they are asked...hfft ...this is NOT a hard concept to get...at least not in MY HEAD IT ISN'T and why, why, why do the same 3 kids have to watch the same stupid cartoon\show over & over & over again....was it not dumb enough the first time? |

Days like today make starting school in July so worth it! The kids are beginning to finish subjects one right after another.Then the ones they still have more to work on they are doubling\tripling\quadrupling up on. They should all be done with most everything by the end of next week if not before.
I told them this morning that they all know what they need to finish that I'm not staying on to of them if they want to boogie & get it done then do it, otherwise the work is there until they finish...but to keep in mind the sooner they get done to sooner they can have a break of no lessons for a while.So they boogied this morning & I really think they are all gonna be done real soon.
This evening we worked on the chicken coop & the garden....the welding is ALL DONE on what we can do. It still needs a roof but a tarp will have to do until we can get some more $ for roofing supplies. So the next trip into town I will buy a big tarp to go over the coop & tomorrow we will put chickens & guineas in there new home!! Next we have to build their "home" (laying) part of it, until we can get that done they will have to use barrels.
We have been spreading straw & hay out in the garden to help detour the weeds...so far so good....we need to peel off more off the last big round bale we have tomorrow & finish it up.
We have corn, onions, tomatoes, beans, zucchini & squash all coming up\growing very nicely!
We are taking turns with the goats letting them out to graze on leashes & cable.lol...that darn Buddy(our oldest male) he is such a character..he was more interested in what WE were doing tonight than eating the weeds..it was of no use at all letting him out to graze he did more watching of us than eating weeds....he just sat there or laid there watching us...and we had him in a area I REALLY wanted "mowed down"...oh well somebody else will get a try at it tomorrow.
I am so enjoying my new clothes line...I'm so easy to please! |

we were supposed to have high winds today....didn't happen....THANK GOODNESS....it was so nice outside today I hung clothes on the line the girls played in the dirt, used a watering can & made mud...it was wonderful!!!...wish everyday was this nice....windows open, breeze coming through...I LOVE IT....can we have a do over tomorrow...LOL
hubb is coming back though again on his way to Florida, gotta get the truck worked on so I may have to go get him during the night, why he can just come home & we take him in the morning to the shop I don't understand but ya know he is a guy...he doesn't always think ahead...lol...jk..
anyhoo. it is 81 degrees right now...IN FEBRUARY...can't beat that!!! D. went out & collected cans..he is making good $ walking the streets...lol.....I have potatoes boiling right now we are having kfc bowls for dinner...I can make it SO much cheaper & healthier & my kids just LOVE it!!
As soon as dinner is over some children I know are going to help me do a quick clean up so we can all sit & relax for a little bit.....I'm ready for the time to change...I'm ready for spring...I don't like winter anymore, not that I ever did like it all that much...lol |

Being sick is the pits! Our entire household has been sick since the weekend NO FUN...and the remnants of it still are lingering....sigh....My oldest kiddo got hit with it the hardest out of the kids and he asked me last night if he would ever completely get back to normal. I felt so bad for him this is the boy who is a work horse, if something needs done he will get it done...and now is takes everything he has just to walk out to the mailbox...yes this was a horrible bug. His already skinny body has lost a good 8-10 lbs..and he still has no appetite.....Though I must say I don't have a good appetite either, I want food (real food) but then when I sit down to eat it just doesn't taste right...and I can't eat half of what is on my plate....hmm wonder if I have lost any weight...
 Well after spending 3 days in bed of course the house was totally trashed...& oh my the laundry...was just horrible...I started washing early yesterday & the washer\dryer was nonstop until I went to bed last night...and I STILL didn't get it all done.(of course hubb coming through & dropping off his dirty laundry didn't help any either, that coupled with I washed ALL bedding INCLUDING pillows!)
So the washer is at it again this morning, working on the first load...but at least I see an end in site..only 3 loads left!!!
We did sorta kinda get the house put back together yesterday but not totally..... you know when you can only stand for a few minutes at a time without feeling like you are gonna throw up you can only do so much.
As I said hubb came through & gave me his dirty laundry in exchange for taking his dog...fair trade?...hmm...that is undecided...lol....but the happy couple is on the road again and last night when he called he was as chipper as I have heard him in a long while, he really has missed having that dog on the truck. So he & Dolly are on their way to Utah to play in the snow as he puts it....actually he asked who did I make mad to have to go to play in the snow...lol
Speaking of snow, we have a 40% chance of the white stuff this morning ourselves. If we do get any it doesn't look like it will last long considering tomorrow's high is in the low 60's....that I like! I'm so ready for warm weather again....and I'm ready for the wind to STOP!

It is so stinking COLD.....geeze a fireplace would be great about now... Makes we want for warm spring days gardening & mowing the lawn, kids on their bikes, flowers blooming,....sigh......I do love the spring....but the wind mother nature can keep.. speaking of bikes...I need to sink a few pennies into fixing the kids bikes up...Dustin said he would help the girls with theirs if I got all the stuff....so I was thinking IF we get $ back from income tax I will put a little of it up for the kids bike repairs. Sarah is wanting to make apple crisp..so I guess we will heat the house with the oven now...lol |

I love my hubby, really I do, but when he calls at 4:30 in the morning waking me out of a sound sleep(huh, sound sleep what is THAT??) and scaring the bajeerbers outta me(come on, whose phone rings at 4 in the morning?) it really makes me want to smack him...and what did he want...UGH...the pin number for his bank card....AAAAA....~~SMACK~~
Of course we woke the dogs, & the oldest kiddo and he has been up since then & is now MR. Cranky Butt....who is working on him own SMACK..shaking head.
OH MY.....I just finished downloading the Hands of a Child catalog...GEEZE 72 pages..ummm I was gonna print it out...but now...hmm...I dunno about that..the $5 may be worth the printed copy.....well now I'm on to downloading the free deer book...how I do love In the Hands of a Child products!
I have been giving consideration to next years curriculum list and what all I will need to buy(not real indeptly, but thinking about it)...I'm praying taxes will treat us well & I can afford to go to convention again this year....tho I don't think I will have as much to HAVE to buy this year...thank goodness..I have been watching homeschool classifieds and I have gotten some very good deals on there....why pay full price if ya don't have to right!
The kids have all their school stuff ready to begin again on Monday morning...not sure who is dreading it more, me or them...I like our unplanned days around here...sometimes we gets lots down and sometimes we don't but the no pressure of lessons NEEDING to be done is nice......what has REALLY been nice is not going ANYWHERE...I honestly couldn't tell you when the last time I got to stay home this many days in a row was...I could get used to this!! of course I think it would have been even nicer if it would have been in the spring & we could have been outside enjoying the sunshine....note to self...garden planning..lol
