Gotta get back to "normal" now

Posted in school n stuff

Well hubby has gone back to work...now, not that I don't love having him home, but sometimes ..ugh...grrr...that tv just annoys the bajeebers out of me when he is here....we do not have the tv on ALL the time around here when he is gone...but let him walk in that door and that is the first thing he does..shaking head....makes me want to smack him!

This time home everything was an argument with him, he has to be right ALL the time...NEVER is he wrong....geeze...yeah right.....just once I'd like to hear the words " you were right and I was wrong hunny" out of his mouth.....JUST ONCE....ain't never gonna happen...ugh

Tomorrow we are starting school officially!

Ok I said that with an exclamation point...I'm trying to sike myself up here....not working...I'm just as NOT ready to start up as the kids...but hopefully once we get back in the swing of things all will have a better outlook...hopefully..
These first 2 days  will be easy ones just getting them used to the routine again...and getting ME used to the routine again....and we will more than likely do school late morning and afternoon while it is too hot to be outside anyway.

Friday night the girls have a pizza party at church(they won the vbs boys vs. girls contest..so all the girls get a pizza party)

I'm not AS ontop of the school planning as I wanted to be, but I'm pretty good...we have a few things that we are not gonna start off the year with yet...we will slowly add science & history into the mix....but one thing they are all  looking forward to is the OK history unit we are gonna start(that we are starting right off the bat with)...oh and S. is so excited to start her handwriting book...I have had to make her NOT start doing it...lol

The tiredness is beginning to catch up with me...I should go to bed..full day tomorrow..

New School Year

Posted in school n stuff

Well we will officially  start the 2007-2008 school year on the 16th of july. I have been working on lesson planning...I have to admit I REALLY REALLY REALLY like this computer program I bought called Edu-Track...it is making lesson planning a breeze...no more writing out EVERYTHING 3 times...it has this repeating feature that is a God send!!!!

I am not finished planning yet, but do have a good start and will be finishing this next week, cleaning & sorting the kids school drawers\bins..getting things ready...dd8 started cleaning out her drawers last night when she realized i was doing lesson plans.

My only hesitation about this coming school year is hubb & his job, with this new job he is home MUCH more and doing school while he is home is just not an easy thing for us....the kids may have to just deal with doing school work around hubb & on weekends ....if we have planty of notice that he is coming home it is ok, but we don't always have that.

Oh and I got GREAT deal on a bunch of Nancy Drew books for dd11 off of homeschool classifieds yesterday.....she is gonna be thrilled!

We are still debating on wether or not to continue bowling.....really it all comes down to money.....I just don't see how some families can afford to have their kids involved in so many activities.

Homeschool Conference......

Is coming up soon and I can't wait, I get excited just thinking about it!! Hubb will be staying home with the kids and I will get 2 days off to just go and look at BOOKS!!!!

The kids did testing last week and we have been having an easy week this week..yes still doing school but not die hard hitting the books like we had been...they are so looking forward to a litle time off...they will take off while hubb is home next week, then we will continue the rest of May..but then we will take June off and start back up just after July the 4th!...At least that is my plan!

spelling bee & dery race

Posted in school n stuff

Both of the girls were in the spelling bee on Friday morning, neither of them won, but they both did amazingly well. I am so very proud of both of them!!!! They both hung in for quite a few rounds.

Then Friday evening we had the awanas pinewood dery race, again none of my kids won at the race, but they all made really great cars & worked extremely hard on them.

D. made a pick-up truck A. made a race car, & S. made her race car look like a dalmation dog.....hubb and I both have vowed ...no more cars......ever!

You might be a homeschool mom if:

Posted in school n stuff

You wake up on Saturday morning and feel that wonderful childhood flood of joy realizing it’s Saturday—blessed Saturday—no school!

Your holiday decorations include a centerpiece fashioned from an old science project volcano spray-painted green and rigged with electric tree lights.

Your children know who the nativity set figures represent.

Your kid asks his sibling to help with a math problem because he knows he can work it quicker than you can.

Your vacuum cleaner breaks and you call your ten-year-old to fix it instead of the repairman.

Just before your child is about to do something fun, he stops and asks suspiciously if this is school.

You buy textbooks and art supplies for birthday gifts and your children are thrilled with them.

Your child can help patrons locate books in the public library.

Your kid interrupts a museum curator with “Well, actually…”

Your child knows who is running for office.

A trip to the grocery store alone is something you’ve been looking forward to for days.

“Are these all yours?” is a question you’ve answered multiple times every time you go anywhere.

Your church has assigned your family your own pews.

Your office is your kitchen.

Your child asks the bank teller where the compost bucket is so he can throw out an apple core.

Your child eats apples.

A kid knocks on the door during the first ten seconds of your three-minute shower to ask you how to spell “patience.”
