My daughter (9yo Junior) has had an interest in horses this summer so I set up this webpage for her to work on this badge. Feel free to use as-is, tweaking as needed for your own Junior Girl Scout.
HORSE FAN BADGE
You need to complete a total of six activities to earn this Junior Girl Scout Badge.
Websites listed should help you complete some of the activities.
Movies listed below will take a little while to load so please be patient & ask for help if there is any problem.
Activity # 2 -- Caring for Horses
Learn what is involved in the care of a horse.
Find out how much and what kind of food a horse needs daily.
What are some acceptable treats?
How often does a horse need to be shod and why? You can email Grandma Rita and ask her directly!
It is suggested to make notebook pages to display your knowledge and work for the completion of this activity.
Drawings, computer print-outs, magazine cut-outs, etc. can be used.
Be sure to use your best handwriting and to proofread for errors.
Be creative and "show what you know!"
Activity # 8 -- Horse "Tales"
Learn about famous or legendary horses. Click here to learn about the Chincoteague Ponies. Read the story then watch the movie.
Activity # 9 -- Horse Stories
Read one or more books about horses. These might include books on horsemanship, information on related careers, stories about famous horses, or stories of adventure on horseback.
How exciting! You've already completed this activity! Do you remember what horse books you've recently read?
Make a notebook page with these books listed. Be sure to add the current horse books you're reading!
