Crochet Update
A little while back a good friend online friend of mine inquired about my crocheting... how it was going, etc. Well, I never quite got around to answering her, until now.
If you'll recall, back in June I started a ripple afghan.
I worked on it for oh, maybe 3-4 weeks then summer came (hot) and my wrists started acting up (ouch) so I put it to the side. I didn't really pick it up again until sometime in December, if memory serves. I worked on it at one of my daughter's play rehearsals in December plus a few evenings at home.
When homeschool co-op classes started back up after the holidays I started to take my afghan to work on during my "off" time, instead of the embroidery project or Girl Scout badges sewing I had been working on. That gives me almost 2 hours straight on Mondays to work on it. I haven't worked on it any at home this month but just tonight I pulled it out of the tote bag and sewed in some loose ends from color changes.
Anyway, Susan, here's what it looks like so far...
Click for larger view. The rows don't look like they're in straight ripples, due to the way it is
laying on the couch, but trust me, they are! That's one thing
I'm quite careful off... lots of counting!LOL
And here is a bit of a close-up shot...
Any blue you may see is actually part of the stuff I put up
underneath the afghan to help spread it out better for photographing.
It sure isn't perfect, but it is relaxing. It isn't difficult either. Truly, the toughest part is just keeping count of the stitches when co-op kiddos are meandering around, coming to ask me questions (though I just love that! There's this one little boy who is just darling and asks me something about WHATEVER project I'm working on each and EVERY week!) and so on.
My goal for this afghan is to have one that goes easily from my toes to my chin, when I'm sitting in the recliner or with my feet kicked up on the ottoman at the couch. Lengthwise it is now just over midway up my torso, so I don't have TOOOO much further to go. I should just crank it out and get done with it. LOL it certainly would have been well past done had I actually kept working on it from the beginning and not taken most all of Summer and Autumn off! Oh well.
I am impressed with your progress. I have always wanted to make an afghan like that but have never even known where to start. Amanda is learning to crochet so maybe I can get her to teach me. :)
Angi !!!
Wow ! You have done a beautiful job on this ! I love the colors too.
Thank you for showing us the picture. I have been working on a blanket for my dd7 and I'm motivated to get it out again. The taco soup sounds good too and your lesson plans are awesome. I downloaded the art file to look at later too.

Reallllly enjoyed reading all your crochet posts and I'm re-inspiored to try some new things - so far I've gone through a "Teach Myself to Crochet" book and done the little swatches. Then, somehow I came across the "S" speed hook and that sounded great, so I created some afghans with it - all double crochet and they worked up pretty fast! Now, I'm a little wary of going to the tiny hooks again b/c I'm sure the process of actually completing something will take much longer! Sigh! But, I will have to try - your ripple afghan looks great - I would like to try to do one for myself. Thanks for your inspiring pictures!
Wow, it looks great!
Thanks for the inspiration.
