December 1--

I woke up this morning to SNOW! not much, but we're happy for that-- everything was white. DH had the foresight to put the minivan in the garage last night when we returned home from my mom's house (Thanksgiving) so that was nice, although I've not gone anywhere today anyway.

This morning's snowy church lawn in our neighborhood - first true snow of the season!

Today was  modified lessons-- I dropped grammar and art lessons for the rest of the year- only doing writing, math, health, spelling, memory work.  DD was thankful for that!

Before lessons could even get started today, however, she came in to where I was and said, "Mom, if I put my coat and stuff on can I go out and shovel the sidewalk for Dad?" To which I replied, "I think there is a machine thing that they drive around and scrape the walks clean, honey." She didn't care. Bound and determined she said *SHE* wanted to do it. How could I resist?

Lessons followed, then lunch. Lunch was a mish-mosh of things she pulled together. She ate while watching a DVR'd episode of Dragonfly TV.

I've been working on rounding up free MP3s for adding to our Christmas music collection. I wanted to also find some simple Christmas carol MP3s that we could work from in learning or revisiting a variety of Christmas carols-- one a day plus a choice or two of days previous. I found 15 free files out of the 25 I had opted for, but located an additional 5 carol MP3 files that I may decide to replace some of those I couldn't find. I'll try to post more about this tomorrow if I get the chance.

I also tackled a clothing box in my closet-- officially my "winter things." I had already pulled some things out to wear but needed to go through the rest of the box. I selected those things that I still wanted to wear and the rest I put into a bag for donating. I also skimmed through our Christmas storage boxes *HOPING* to find the box with all of our Christmas books and music. No luck. I'll have to dig more seriously this weekend when we put our tree up. *sigh*

Christmas supplies, from floor to top shelving, left to right walls.
Top right box is the SAME box used to store the nativity scene
my parents bought when I was a kid... and yes, the nativity is in there.
I'll buy more plastic storage totes this year as I'm trying
to get everything into those ONLY!

Today's laundry pile consists of clothing worn over Thanksgiving weekend
and items pulled from my "winter clothes" box that I decided to keep
and wear again this year.

This is the Christmas CD I'm currently listening to-- Casting Crowns: Peace on Earth. (Linked to MP3 album download) It is just a LOVELY listen!! Nice to listen to while I was putting various Christmas books on hold at area libraries and through inter-library loan dept. at our library.

This afternoon kiddo saw the Advent House I'd gotten a few weeks ago from World Market and inquired about it. This is the first time we've had a HOUSE to countdown to Christmas with! Usually I've bought those cheap flat chocolate filled door things from who knows where. Once we did a candy cane countdown (but that got boring! LOL) She opened the front door (day 1) after her shower time this evening.

We had a simple meal of grilled ham & cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. (They just HAVE to go together, ya know!) Nothing fancy, but after DH came home from work  and shoveled outside again it was a perfect fit for dinner! I made a batch of peanut butter cookies afterwards and we enjoyed a few. I tried to watch a Netflix rental, Tropic Thunder, with him but my brain just couldn't take the sheer stupidity... no matter how many actors in it I actually like. So I'm up here wrapping up this blog entry for today while he sits and watches the rest of it.

Well that's all for today, December 1st! I've saved these photos and will copy/paste my blog entry to a Word document so I can get this day into my 2008 Christmas Season binder. (No Trish, I've not FINISHED putting the darn thing together yet! *sigh*)
