I subscribe to a LOT of blogs, too many to list here.
But I'll change this listing up from time to time, as the mood hits me.

Valentine Quilting
You may recall seeing some Valentine themed fabric on my blog in late January. Well, since I'm slowfashionably late busy as usual, I'm just now getting the final results posted to my blog.
The table runner here was my first project ever completely machine pieced. It isn't perfect by a long shot, but it looks cute on our kitchen table! I finished this on 2/2/09.
I followed the instructions from the book Quilting for Beginners by Coats and Clark. (pages 77-83, though I modified it to use the snowball blocks I'd made earlier.) Hat tip: Melanie for inspiring me to start revisit quilting, this time by machine. I only did "stitch in the ditch" on the vertical seams and did a bit of top-stitching on around the inside of the snowballs. Here's a close-up:

Then, as I mentioned earlier, I took a beginning quilting class. After that, I wanted to try my hand at actually free-motion quilting something. I even bought real quilt batting. LOL But because I'm so cheap I didn't want to practice on something thereby "wasting" the fabric and batting. So, I decided to make a Valentine's placemat. Here it is:
Not all the exact same fabrics as in the table runner, but a few are the same. Again, I did the vertical stitch in the ditch. Each white section is where I practiced stippling. I have to remember the purpose of this was PRACTICING, so it isn't great. But I did improve by the time I was doing my first one. LOL Here's a close-up too:

I still have a small assortment of Valentine's Day themed fabrics (from a Fat Quarter monthly swap I'm in) but that's all the V-Day sewing I did for this year!
