Very Last First Time...

Well, to borrow a title from a children's book, I just had my very last first time.

I made a quilt block!!!  Nothing to write home about, but it is done. It is for a quilt that represents the women of the Bible. This is a Bible study I recently joined based on the book Women of the Bible by Ann Spangler and Jean E. Syswerda.

Anyway, here  is my first block (ever.) It is a block about Eve.

The colors seem a little dark in this scan and the
shadows at the seams look odd. (It looks better in person.)

The green represents the Garden of Eden.
The gold (though looks orange here) and radiating specks represent God.
The red is for the temptation that Eve felt thereby leading Adam to sin too.
The dark blue represents the darkness that fell over the world with the first sin

This block was rather tough for me. Bless a couple of online friends (who are also doing this Bible study and quilt) for putting up with my constant emails full of questions! Oddly enough, this seemingly easy quilt block was one of the toughest things I've ever sewn... and I can whip up some clothing pretty darn easily!  It was a challenge, but fun, nonetheless. I look forward future blocks.

Sounds like a neat study! What neat thing to do along with the study!
Even though your first block looks better in person... it still looks very neat!

Looks tricky to me!

And very pretty. I love the idea of a Bible study quilt! My friend www.homeschoolblogger.com/bunkhousesewing does some amazing banners and quilts. I think she's going to blog on some soon. Go check out the piano cover she made for her church.

Well Done!

You did a wonderful job of piecing! I I really like the blue you chose in the center for darkness, neat idea. I just want to tell you how much I admire your persistence. I'm praying for great things to come of this study. I honestly think the Lord led you back on line to particpate. : )
Love,
Me

I think so, too!

I agree, Wren..... I mean I'd been nomail on the list for ages, and just *happened* to get intouch with M, who got me back in touch with you... and thus the Bible study! I told you how perfect it was, given that I'd been wanting to follow the book for a while anyway, just hadn't gotten to it yet. Anyway, glad to be back among the gals and looking forward to all this shall bring to all of us!

Looks terrific!! I'm sorry, but you are going to have a hard time convincing me it's your first! ;-) Just kidding, but you really did a great job! And I agree with Wren. It's so nice to have you back, and joining us in this study. :-)

Love,
the other Me :-)

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and thanks for helping. I LOVE quilting -- and fight terribly to make the simplest articles of clothing -- so I understand your situation -- somewhat in reverse.

Enjoy the Bible study and quilt making!
