First, let me just sigh..... ******sigh******
Well, this block (#2 in history for me) went together easily. Sewing 1/4" seams isn't so difficult. LOL. I think I usually sewed smaller than 5/8" seams when sewing garments anyway (I don't like wide seams, and often used a serger anyway.) And like I said, the sewing was pretty easy. Most difficult was lining up the points of the triangles. I lost a couple in the process but oh well.
However, this block is horrible! In my defense, I tried not to buy a new rotary cutter and mat (mine is in storage in San Diego!) and instead used some scissors... bad scissors at that! So I know my measuring and cutting of the initial pieces were off. But UGH... I hadn't realized that being off at the cutting would make the final block so off in the end. Well, DUH! So my block is 1/4" too small all around to sufficiently have room for the sashing later.
And on top of that the outter spoke triangle points are all different sizes, which makes it look so horrible. I could just pull my hair out! And to make matters worse, when I finally put the quilt together with the sashing I'll end up losing the out facing points! Grrrrr.
Have I sighed yet?
But... oh well. I like my fabric selection. This block is to represent Sarah, Abraham's wife.
The chocolate color with blue and tan flowers is Sarah's fabric, showing her beauty (flowers) in an environment that was less than beautiful.
The blue floral is for Isaac, Sarah's son (blue for boy.)
The cream color with tiny gold stars represents God's promise to Abraham.
So here's the block:

(it scanned in kinda katty-whompus but is
much straighter on this bottom horizontal seam in person... ) |
Good job!
Your fabric is very pretty and appropriate. I think you are too hard on yourself.
You are doing a great job here.
