A favorite poem of my daughters since memorizing this for an activity requirement for a Girl Scout Badge. She memorized this while we were still living in Hawaii, but we just recorded it this morning.

This was my DD (9yo) memory work for October 2006. Funny, I always think it is going to take much longer than it ever does for her to memorize anything. This entire poem she had memorized in just about a week! LOL So, we spent the rest of the time just working on voice inflection... adding feeling... to the poem.
This is one of my favorite poems. I remember my own mom reading it to me growing up (along with other JWR poems.) She read from, and now I own, this book:
