Some Girl Scout things
Sunday, March 2, 2008
Our troop is in the middle of Girl Scout cookie sales. Well, our pre-sales are over. Our booth sales are over (sold out the FIRST DAY!) Now we just have to turn our money in from the pre-sales.
Our own Junior Girl Scout has been signed up for a summer camp and she's uber excited about it! We added one more overnight to what she did last year. It was interesting jockeying things around to fit in other summer activities, but she was very insistent (in a nice manner) that Girl Scout camp not be mixed.
This evening I've been going through some old emails. I think it might be time to delete old mails from our old troop in Hawaii.... ya think?? LOL But I did come across some things I'd kept for one reason or another and thought I'd post just some of them here.
Our DD went to Girl Scout Camp last week, for the first time without me. For the past three years camping with Girl Scouts has been with our troop and I've either been a "helper" mom or a leader. This time, she attended a summer camp. We opted to only send her to a 3day/2night camp this time so she could have a "small dose" of camp without mom but still experience it and grow. SHE LOVED IT!!!
There will be more photos (I think) once I get her camera's film developed. But these are the few pictures I took on my digital camera when we took her.
All packed & ready to go!
With the camp's list in hand she did all her own packing. I labeled each and every item with her name. (Boy, was that fun! LOL) She even picked out the tote from the thrift store. It was perfect for this 3-day adventure but certainly wouldn't work for a week long camp! Funny, she was one of the lightest packed campers there!
Her camping area was called... Cherry Hollow. Just had to get this photo with the makeshift sign. LOL. Hey, I scrapbook!
Making her bed. She was the first one at the tent and got to pick her cot. I had to laugh as the beds are just as ragged here at this camp as they were at the GS camp I attended over 20 years ago in Indiana!LOL Mosquito netting was a new concept to DD and was draped over the PVC pipes you see duct taped to the cot frames.
Junior Girl Scouts- A Healthier You Badge
Friday, January 19, 2007
This is a free download for a coloring book about calcium. However, page 11 is a great page showing serving size of calcium rich foods, which is perfect for the Healthy Bones activity for the "A Healthier You" badge. Makes for a nice printable for you daughter to track her calcium intake for a week.
My daughter (9yo Junior) has had an interest in horses this summer so I set up this webpage for her to work on this badge. Feel free to use as-is, tweaking as needed for your own Junior Girl Scout.
