Dec. 18, 2008 - Birthday Party for Jesus

Posted in homeschooling

Today we had our annual "Birthday Party for Jesus" with our homeschool group.  Claudia hosted it and she is definetly the "hostess with the mostess"  It was a great party that everyone enjoyed.  There were craft stations set up with coloring pages and ornament making.  We even made a special snack pack to keep in the car for when we run across a homeless person to give them a gift.  Included with it is a paper with local missions listed on it and a plan for salvation.  Everyone brought great food to share and of course there was the cake.  Just before we were getting ready sing happy birthday and blow out the candles, Savannah came up to me and asked if she could blow out the candles since Jesus was in heaven and couldn't do it.  (How cute is that!!)  After the pictures I have included a recpie for a cake that we make as a family for Jesus's birthday.

We let just Mrs. Claudia blow out the candles so we could all enjoy the cake!

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!!

Birthday Cake for Jesus

Start with a chocolate cake to symbolize our sin, black in god's own eyes (Romans 3:23).  Layer it with white frosting just as Christ's purity covers our sins (Isaiah 1:18).  The entire cake should be shaped circular to demonstrate that God is "eternal" (Isaiah 4:6, Revelation 1:8 and 1 Timothy 1:17) has no beginning or ending.

On top of the cake put a yellow star to signify the one that shone over Jesus manager (Matther 2:1-2), an angel to indicate the first glad tidings (Luke 2:9-10) and candles to show that christ is the light of the world (John 8:12).  Make sure there are 12 candles to remind us that Jesus is the light of the world throught out the 12 months of the year, not just at Christmas and make sure they are red, symbolizing His blod shed for us (Matther 26:27-28)

Put some evergreens on teh cake to signify everlasting life (John 3:16), God's gift to those who receive it.

Enjoy!
