What about your children inspire you to be a better mother?
I think just watching my children interact and how much they really do pay attention to me as to what I say and do (good and bad ) is inspriration! We can get so consumed in all the little things of daily life and immediate needs that they might have that it is hard sometimes to step back and look at the bigger picture.
When I do step back I realize I am raising these children with the Lord's help and I need to seek Him daily as to how I should be raising them. I need to stay focused on the ultimate goal of "raising my children for Christ". With this in mind then I can be the mother that my children need and the mother that Christ designed me to be.

What do you love about Mothering?
I absolutely love holding and snuggling with my babies. I especially enojy it as they get old enough to start responding. Natasha is 2 and a half months old and has just started cooing and smiling. I was at a meeting last Monday and brought her with me. I was holding her up next to me in the crook of my arm and she started smiling and then cooing at me for the first time. I had to control myself not to just shout out for everyone to look at her. It just made my heart leap for joy.

After reading Amy's post this week on meals, laundry and attitudes I wanted to share about our meal times. At dinner time all of my kids want to pray and while I am excited about this it was dragging on forever and they were praying for everything but the food (toys, pets, trips that happened weeks ago! etc...) and if they didn't get to pray they were all upset. So Daddy came up with a new idea..."picking numbers". Daddy pickes a number 1-10 and then each kid picks a number and whoever is closest gets to pray. They absoultely love this and we get to eat warm meals again. LOL. Then they each know that they can have a turn praying before bed. However they still get quite off topic and forget to actually pray for our food. We don't mind though because we enjoy and I am sure God even gets a chuckle out of some of their prayers.

There is nothing in the world like holding a newborn baby and they smell so good too!! This past week has been such a joy watching my other 4 kids interact with their new sister. The excitment and enthusisam they have when seeing, holding or touching her is so great to watch. They all want to help with the new baby, even changing diapers! Alexa is excited to wake up each morning and see her "baby Tasha". Alexa will come running into my room saying "Tasha, Tasha" and climb up on my bed and get so excited when she actually sees Tasha. She claps her hands and smiles and then reaches out to touch the baby's hand or rub her head. New babies are definitely one of God's greatest gifts.

One things I love about mothering is hearing the insightful and down right funny things that my kids say. I love getting a glimpse into their world and how they think.
Yesterday we had my last dr. appt before the big day comes next Monday and we brought all four kids with. We eneded up having to wait for quite awhile in the room before the doctor came in so we were trying to entertain the kids. We played simon says, Eye Spy, etc. Then I held my arms out in a tree like shape and told the kids "act like a tree". My husband looked at me as to say that's a good one lets see how long it will last. As everyone knows the kids should stay quite a few minutes anyways. Well my darling 3 year old, Savannah holds her arms up smiles and says "look at me I am a talking tree". We just busted out laughing because that is so her personality. If she was to be a tree it would definetly be a talking tree!!!! She can talk non-stop!
I try to write down the funny things they say because my sister-in-law is convinced I need to write a book one day with all of them!!

Mondays on Mothering for May 19th, 2008
A blogging friend of mine does this on her blog each Monday and encourages others to do the same so I thought I would alternate between this and The Simple Woman.
Something I love about being a mother is being greeted by my kids after I have been gone. This past Saturday Jay and I went out for the afternoon and our babysitter came over to play with the kids. We were gone for a few hours and when we got home they were all out back playing. I watched them for a few minutes through the sliding glass door then I opened it and said hi. Well they all came running or should I say charging to the door "mommy's home, mommy's home". They were grabbing my leg and arm and what ever they could to give me hugs and kisses. (Of course my belly is sticking right out there! LOL)
Wow what a great feeling. Now I know they really like their babysitter and have a great time with her so it has nothing to do with that. Just genuine excitement to see me again and that just melts my heart and I never take that for granted!!!
