Alas, this story shall be told without pictures, since my friend/acquaintance seems to have forgotten to send them to me. But if I do happen to receive the pictures after this entry is written, I shall promptly update because I am sure the pictures are quite entertaining. Anyway....on with the story.
It all happened on a Wednesday evening during spring break in this little town in which I live. Since it was spring break, I didn't have my normal Wed. night class, so instead I drove my sister to her choir practice at church, and I went to the Wed. night youth service, little knowing I would come home smelling so terrible that my poor sister had to hold her breath the 25 minute drive home. But we'll get to that part soon enough..... Apparently, unbeknownst to me, the youth group does their Wed. night service a little - um - differently during spring break. After the normal singing/worship and prayer time, the youth pastor spoke to us for about 5-10 minutes, then the rest of the time was spent playing some games. Some very interesting, very crazy, very messy, very fun games. Before the games began, we divided into teams. My group was Team #4. Then the youth pastor told us the name of each game we would be playing, and we had to choose who from our team would play each game, without knowing what exactly the game was - only the name of it. And that is how I ended up being the one who agreed to play the game called "Cheesehead." So we went outside and the games began! Here are the games different teammates played that night:
After that, we played 2 games in which all teammates participated - and no food was involved! : ) In the first, cards with pictures on them were laid out inside the building, and teammates had to run in, flip over cards, and try to make a match - like the card game Memory. Then they ran back out and the next teammate ran in to do the same thing. Team #4 got second or third place. The last game of the night was another relay. Everyone had had to take their shoes off at the very beginning before any of the games began. These shoes were placed in two piles inside the youth building - left shoes and right shoes. Teammates had to run inside, find both shoes of the teammate behind them in line, and take the shoes out to them. The next teammate in line then had to put his/her shoes on, then run in and find the next teammate's shoes, and so on until everyone had their shoes on. Team #4 got third place. Our team ended up the overall winners - which meant one person on our team was chosen to choose someone to get a full-ride free trip on one of the summer youth trips. This was the conclusion to a series the youth group had been studying on "putting others first." I thought that was kind of a neat touch - that the reward for winning was not receiving a prize for yourself, but choosing someone else to receive a gift.
And so... that is the story of me with whipped cream on my head...along with a lot of other messy and crazy games. I have to say the cheesehead game was probably one of the craziest things I've ever done. But it was fun, too.
