Who I Am

I am a 21-year-old homeschool graduate and the oldest of four girls in my family. I'm currently pursuing an associates degree from Liberty University's Distance Learning Program, and am a writer, hopefully to be published in the near future. I enjoy volunteering for different ministries, being on the praise dance team at church, taking pictures, and having fun with family and friends. About my blog title -- if you're wondering why "UNDER the Rainbow" -- the rainbow represents God's promises, so I'm living under God's promises and His faithfulness!

What I Love

My Father and Savior, my family, the Bible, my church, writing, being silly and random with my sister Briana, blowing bubbles with my sister Marissa, my sister Daniella's cuddly hugs, playing games with my family, laughing so hard I can't breathe, dancing, Thursday night small group, hanging out with my friends, having serious discussions about life and spiritual stuff, really worshipping God - when I close my eyes and everything else disappears and it's just me and Him, watching someone play the guitar, getting and giving hugs, that feeling you get when you've done something good and no one knows but you and God, catching fireflies, dreaming about the future, taking pictures, understanding new truths from God's Word, when I hit a perfect triple turn in dance, llamas, looking at the stars, going for walks - rain or shine, Guatemala - the country and the people, flamingos, my dog Kacie, reading a good book, my sponsored children, journaling, chocolate, singing in my car while driving...just being alive!

Weddings and Camp

Is it really boring to buy somebody a laundry basket and hangers for a wedding shower?  I mean, it was on her registry.... and my thinking was, everyone else will buy kitchen stuff, so I'll buy something different.  Still, it seems kind of boring.  Maybe I'll buy something else to go with it...

Yes, I'm helping to hostess another wedding shower this weekend.  I have 3 friends getting married in a 3-month time period!!  My friend Lizzie, whose shower I helped with, got married a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't get to go to the wedding, because it was in Alabama, the day after we got home from Guatemala.  I would have loved to have been there... I know she was a beautiful bride.  :-)  Anyway, now there are two more weddings coming up, one in August and one in September.  And actually another one in October, but I don't really know that couple.  Seems like everyone is getting married lately!!

Hmm... what else blog-worthy has been going on?  There's a lot of stuff swirling around in my head but nothing I really want to write about.

Briana and I are getting ready to head to Camp next week to work as counselors.  This will be her second week this summer but my first.  I'm really excited... I love working at Camp!  Please keep us in your prayers next week.  It will be a very busy and tiring week, but the work is so rewarding.  If it's the same as previous years, I will be working with 13-15 year old girls, and Briana will be with girls a little younger than that.  Please pray for all the counselors and staff, for energy and love and wisdom, as well as for the girls who come to Camp, for whatever work God wants to do in their lives.  Actually, I guess we counselors/staff need prayer for that, too, don't we?!  :-)
I still need to prepare one more devotion for my group.  I've got two ready, but am a little stuck on the third one.  And of course, I still have to pack.
Thanks for your prayers!!!

I hope you all are having a good week.
~Ashley

Hey Ashley!

I soooo enjoyed reading your entry on your Guatemala trip. The pictures were great, almost like being there myself. Wish I could go and be useful for once.

One of my friends is getting married in February. I know that's not until next year...but it will be here before I can blink. So I'm trying to come up with an idea of something to get her something for her wedding. So I'm just as lost as you are on that matter. ^_^

Thank you for the birthday comment! Your pretty special your self! ^_^

Have a blessed day,
Sarah

I will be praying for you. Personally I think just about all wedding presents are kind of boring but then again I am a little crazy. I guess that kind of stuff just isn't appealing to a fifteen year old girl. :D I hope you have a great time at camp. I can't wait to hear all about it. I'll talk to you later.
God bless
Love,
Hannah
