Who I Am

I am a 23-year-old homeschool graduate and the oldest of four girls in my family. I am currently working part-time for a local Christian camp and preparing in various ways for a future in full-time ministry! I enjoy writing, photography, being in my church's dance team and choir, and hanging out with family and friends. About my blog title -- if you're wondering why "UNDER the Rainbow" -- the rainbow represents God's promises, so I'm living under God's promises and His faithfulness!

What I Love

My Father and Savior, my family, the Bible, my church, writing, being silly and random with my sister Briana, blowing bubbles with my sister Marissa, my sister Daniella's cuddly hugs, playing games with my family, laughing so hard I can't breathe, dancing, Thursday night small group, hanging out with my friends, having serious discussions about life and spiritual stuff, really worshipping God - when I close my eyes and everything else disappears and it's just me and Him, watching someone play the guitar, getting and giving hugs, that feeling you get when you've done something good and no one knows but you and God, catching fireflies, dreaming about the future, taking pictures, understanding new truths from God's Word, when I hit a perfect triple turn in dance, llamas, looking at the stars, going for walks - rain or shine, Guatemala - the country and the people, flamingos, my dog Kacie, reading a good book, my sponsored children, journaling, chocolate, singing in my car while driving...just being alive!

Goodbye to a Special Man

Camp - my summer employer - has lost a special man who can never be replaced.

The head director of the summer camp my sister and I work at passed away on Tuesday night -- I found out about it Wednesday morning and went to my room and bawled.  Lloyd has had a lot of health issues for a long time, and has just been going downhill in the last year or so since he's had cancer for the second time.  But it was still unexpected to hear of his death.

Camp certainly will not be the same without Lloyd.  He was so funny, respected and loved by everyone at camp (kids and staff), and a great encourager.  I can't tell you how many times during my weeks at camp that he has just given me a hug and asked how I was doing... and once when I was having a really tough week and ready to just give up and go home, he and I sat in his golf cart while I cried and he gave me some encouragement and advice.
I'm thankful for Lloyd's love for God, his love for camp and children, and his passion to see children come to know Jesus.  He was serious when it was time to be serious, and when it wasn't, he kept us laughing.  I will miss him so much at camp this summer... we all will.

Please pray for Lloyd's family -- his sweet wife Patsy and their children and grandchildren.  And if you would, please also lift up all of us "camp people" and the assistant director, who I'm guessing will be taking over as director this summer.  It will be an adjustment for all.  But especially lift up the family.

I was so sorry to hear about Lloyd. I guess I just didn't realize how close you and Briana felt to him. He sounds like a great and inspiring Christian man. And, I am sure even though he is gone he will continue to inspire all those that knew him.
love you,
gram

Hey! I'm really sorry about Lloyd..he sounds like he was a wonderful person and someone who would be really fun to know...:(

and sure, you can add me as a friend! I don't have any other HSB friends right now, mostly because I was not wanting 400 friends that I didn't know, lol. But there's one other person on hsb that is gonna add me when she gets one, and you can :D Search for Rebekah Joy Vickery. :)

I'm so sorry. It is hard, isn't it? I'll keep you all in my prayers. But it's an assurance to know that one of God's hard workers has earned his rest. It's so good of you to honour him in this way. God bless you.
