Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.
Yesterday was 4-H judging day for us, and despite it being about 90 degrees, a high dewpoint, little or no breeze, and waiting in lines for two hours, we didn't do too bad...
Bookworm (13) entered her cape, an embroidered pillow, and a decorated cake; and
Ladybug (10) entered a knitted scarf and a decorated cake. So out of the 5 total entries, we got 4 blue ribbons and 1 red (the red was on the scarf in which I thought Ladybug should have gotten blue on that for sure, but that judge was too distracted with her children & wasn't paying attention - too bad, but Ladybug was a good sport).
Here are the entries...
Ladybug's "Teddies at the Pool" cake
Bookworm's "Teddies Play at the Beach" cake
Bookworm's Embroidered Pillow
Ladybug's knitted scarf (that she made for me).
Bookworm's cape was shown a few months ago in an earlier blog.
We melted, but had fun. Today is rest/run errands. Thursday we work in the 4H Clover Cafe at the fair and Friday we have fun at the fair and the girls do a few rides (it's kids day, so half price tickets) - mom doesn't do carnvial rides anymore - too old, they make my head & stomach spin.
The girls did a fantastic job!!!!! I know mom is so proud of them and should be. I will have to stop by the girls blog later and congratulate them. WAY TO GO!!!!
I don't know if I told you or not, but DD's blog can only be read by HSB users, we have had some problems in the last couple of days. So if your girls use the friend thing, it won't show her entries.
Where is my cake!!, and both of the sewing projects look beautiful. They did great! Anyhow I wanted to let you know I recieved my HOWTA book yesterday and last night I had to force my self to put it down, actually I think the LORD was telling me GO TO SLEEP, YOU ARE GETTING VERY SLEEPY. Ahh the 30 pages I read really opened up alot of things for me, and I just want to say thank you for sharing your curriculum styles. I am in awe of the wonderful things and messages written in this book by Robin Sampson. She truly gets it!
Oh your dd's did a GREAT job !!! Is that going to be their S&T ??? What a perfect thing to share. I am sure missing you but I bet you are soooooooooooo busy. I sure am. Farm life is good but boy there is a lot of work. (0; How did your Stevia fair ?
Uh....the scarf should have had a BLUE ribbon. Didn't the judge realize just how much WORK goes into knitting and crocheting? It is lovely. I agree with your conclusion about the ribbons.
Way to go everybody. Your entries are awesome and you deserve all blue ribbons. How exciting to have been a part of it all.
I know my girls would love to participate in such events., they just don't have them in our area!
You all should be proud of yourselves. And MOM you too for not completely melting.. I don't know what I would do if you'd of melted!! hehee
Blessings to you all
Your Secret Sister and friend
