Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.
Outside My Window...it's now after suppertime and we have bright sunshine/partly cloudy, the horses are quietly grazing, and the goldenrod is peeping brightly amongst the brown prairie grass. A bit chilly, it was 45 this morning and we reached only 62 today.
I am thinking... will I ever catch up on my blogging?
From the learning rooms...today was our first day of school. Since I'm getting this out so late, our first day is complete and all went well! Perhaps the girls' excitement expectations were higher than the reality of it all - somewhat anticlimactic I thought -- but they seemed to enjoy it. We certainly got a lot done.
I am thankful for...the priviledge of home educating our children and being with them 24/7.
Saturday ~ Roast Beef
Sunday ~ Camping on the North Shore (Smores) :)
I am creating...or trying to make creative inserts for the girls' lapbooks if only my printer would cooperate.
I am going...crazy! No, really we are staying home most of this week. I have an eye dr. appointment Wednesday and Bookworm has violin on Thursday. Then Sunday we head for the Superior Hiking Trail (on the North Shore of Lake Superior) for a couple of days camping right next to the Lake. The girls & I are afraid we will freeze! (teeth chattering).
I am wearing...my usual barn wear... denim capris, a short sleeve lavander t-shirt, sage fleece jacket, sport socks, hair in ponytail.
I am reading...I Kings and I Corinthians.
I am hoping...the girls will continue to love our school year; and that we will have a strange warm front pass through while we are camping. :)
I am hearing...my husband pounding on the lawn mower in the garage.
Around the house & barn...I am already liking our new school-day schedule where we do a half hour of house chores before school - the house looks pretty good if I do say so myself. We haven't been able to play with the horses the last two nights - last night we just plain couldn't get them to come when we called until it was getting dark, and now I have a bit of a sore throat and don't feel like going out with them.
One of my favorite things...is teaching God's Word to our girls.
A few plans for the rest of the week... is pretty well covered above, but the farrier is also coming on Tuesday to trim hooves.
Here are some picture thoughts I am sharing with you...
Happy to Start School Today.

Glad you had a great first day of school! You're girls are very pretty. Do they always dress nicely for school?
Oh, I went camping in September once, and it was sooooo cold! I'm such a wimp when it comes to cold weather. (I wear long-johns all winter, and NY has long winters!) Once I catch a chill, it takes hours to get rid of it. I'll pray for a warm front!
Good Morning!
I will pray for you to have a REALLY warm front go through this weekend. Did you get frost last night, I know much of norther Wis. was supposed to get frost. We did not thanks to the Lake.
We are using that same math and I am very impressed and our daughter loves it. I wanted something that would explain every problem for the times I need it.
Have a great day.
Joyce
How I long to join you for a hot cup of tea, sitting in your pretty house with you, looking out at the brisk fall-ish weather while our girls play. :o) (We have to do it at your house for fallish weather, you know.) I am working on a list of things to like about the desert. I might have two... LOL! (I guess two doesn't constitute a list.)
Such nice pics of your girls. Nice to see something current. Where's the teacher? (Probably the same place I am, hee hee, camera shy!)
My kids are LOVING there Teaching Textbooks!!!
I prayed to the Lord for our curriculum this year. I just know that Teaching Textbooks are Heaven-Sent. Great stuff!
