Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.
Jun. 1, 2009~ The Simple Woman's Daybook - Monday, June 1, 2009 ~
For Today, Monday, June 1st, 2009 Outside My Window... cloudy and a cool 44 - looking for a high of 70 & sunny. I see lots of white clover flowers and semi-green grass from lack of rain.
I'm thinking... I need to do something around my herb garden - the thyme is taking over my back yard.
From the learning rooms... We are officially done with school for the year - our learning room is now out in the paddock, working with the horses 6 days a week, 2 hrs. a day, weather permitting. I should put away this past year's things and start thinking about this fall - perhaps all I need to order is the next Teaching Textbooks math for Ladybug.
I am thankful for... the Lord's Blessings!
From the kitchen...
M - Lasagna
T - Wild Rice Soup & Breadsticks
W - Garden Salad & Left Overs
TH - Hamburger Hotdish
F - Sauteed Sirloin Tips & Potato Skins
S - Egg Bake & Cinnamon Rolls
I am wearing... long denim skirt (everything is long on me); lavender knit t-shirt; sports socks; hair is still kinky from yesterday's braid and pulled back with a barrette.
I am hoping... praying that my DH will have a good day at work and that everything he does and says will be well-pleasing to his bosses and esp. to our Lord (today he has his yearly review - but the company has a wage-freeze). Also hoping that the saddle I ordered for Ladybug's horse will come super fast and will fit.
I am creating... memories. I haven't had time to be too creative lately - just trying to get done what needs to be done.
I am hearing... The other computer's hum and the clock ticking.
Around the house & barn... Just a typical week.
One of my favorite things... enjoying life with my girly-girls.
I am going... hmm, maybe to the post office today. A few plans for the rest of the week...
M - Laundry; pay bills; play (work) with the horses; cleaning house.
T - Ironing; horse riding lessons for the girls; more cleaning. W - play with horses; gardening
TH - Horses; maybe visit my mom or have her over F - Volunteer at nursing home; horses
S - Whatever; horses
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
Ladybug loves to scooter and pogo stick - here she is last night - she hopped over 500 times non-stop, then her foot slipped off, she got back on and hopped for another 500 hops - yes, that is over 1,000 hops! She sometimes likes to swing her one hand in the air and pretend she is on a bronc in a rodeo, lol, and she can even hop no-handed, but I don't encourage her.
Thanks for stopping! Warm Wishes for a Wonderful Week!

Sounds like another horsey week for you guys. I wish you'd come cook for me this week. Your menus always sound like a treat. This week we are getting ready to camp, so the menu will be preceeded by prayers for the creative juices to flow so we can use up what we have on hand.

I like to read the Simple Woman's Daybook entries that are near my name in the list. You got yours done just a couple before me.
Just stopping to read and say hi.
Great post.
I agree your menu looks great. We need to do menu planning and make a grocery list. I have No Idea what I am making for dinner tonight.
I am jealous of you life on the farm. I love horses. My cousins had horses when I was growing up and I got to ride at their house frequently. I also used to love going to the Devon Horse Show in PA every year but have only been once or twice since I have been married, I have not been able to afford tickets, I miss going with my Mom.
Hello! I really enjoyed your daybook entry! I giggled at your 'everything is long on me' comment as I am 4' 6" everything is long on me as well! In fact if you look at my post for today, the 'pants' I am wearing are actually capris...LOL! I have so enjoyed the capri movement since thye allow me to buy things that FIT instead of having to overhaul everything I buy! Anywho, I digress....your girls are lovely and your home sounds so inviting. God is blessing you greatly! Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Kristy
Good morning! Your wild rice soup sounds delic, but too hot for us. :o( I'm concentrating on cool meals for the next few months.
How did the review go?? Big bonus to come in the year 2000... something?
Yes, there is often a redneck car event somewhere around here, usually at the casinos. But since Oatman is one of the few places to see, the car showers end up there.
Let me know when you're coming, and G will arrange a good ride for J. :o)
We're trying to wrap up some straggling subjects in school this morning, then we're off to the library to return overdue books. Have a wonderful day!
Hi Jane
Your going to love that book - Share Jesus Without Fear. I know I did. It's one of those books that changed my life/thinking/ and has helped me a lot to be more bold with my witness.
Your book - Simple Hospitality - I always love books like that. Tell me how you like this one. I've gotten books about hospitality, but sometimes their more on "why" than the "how". I already know the "why".
Keep your eyes on garage sales this summer for saddles - there are probably some real deals in your area, too. I hope the one you ordered turns out just right.
Just think if we had the energy your daughter has to jump on our polo stick 1,000 times. Then maybe that cookie and the cookie dough I just ate wouldn't be so bad!
Your friend,
Antoinette.
