Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.
Here's what's been going on in our neck of the woods...
More Horse Riding, of course.
Everyone gets their fair turn.
All tuckered out.
Anna keeps working with Kitty, teaching her to bow. She is coming along well - but it seems like Anna can only get her to bow her head or bend the knee, but not both at the same time - at least not for the camara.
We had a garage sale last Thursday & Friday - the girls enjoyed weaving around the tables when there wasn't any customers (which there was a lot of lull time).
A mouse made it's appearance in the garage at the start of the sale, but never fear, our trusty mouser has it cornered.
With plenty of down time at the sale, we did a little work in our hosta glade next to the front door.
View from our front entry through the screen door.
I love our Dianthus, we have 3 of them and they give so much color and fragrance.
Isn't this rose bush a beauty? - full of blooms.
Our hummingbird feeder hangs above the hostas. There is a constant stream of visitors here throughout the day.
Thanks for stopping by - I'll do a Daybook a little later today. Have a good day!!!
I know at least four girls who would (still) love to live next door to you, or better yet, in your house. Lovely garden! Now I will recognize your house when we surprise you. :o)
Oh, I love this post, Jane!
You have pictures of all my favorite things - horses, flowers, (and especially purple ones); and a front porch door. I just love yours - it has so many Victorian touches about it. Mine's rather plain in comparison. I've always wanted one like yours. I like to take pictures, too, of my view out my front door. A front porch screen door just seems like something out of a yesteryear/farm era, I think that's why I like it so much.
I like your purple flowers - I'll have to see if I planted any like that this year - I forget their names, but saved their tags. I bought a lot of purple ones, though. Last years - all the ones I bought for my picket fence - most of them, I should say, didn't make it through the winter. I didn't really like last years effect, though, when I got all done with it. It's one thing to spend $ and be happy with the results, very disappointing, though, to spend money and then look at it and not be happy. But this year, I think I'm happy. It already looks better.
I love your birdhouse and bird picture. That's something I want to do in the near future - do more bird houses on the premises and around the house and attract different colors & varieties of birds.
Your flower bed by the house is a nice touch! I've never seen it that close up. Very pretty!
Great pictures... and thanks for the kind comment I knew you would get me... Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week... btw would you like for me to send you some of our trumpet vines? We have plenty and they are sure to please the hummingbirds
Oh, the love of girls and their horses. Our so wish we would get horses. But, we just can't add anything now.
I just love your flower bed. It looks lovely. I'm having a love/hate relationship with my flowers - it's been a four year battle - what we actually need is about a ton of compost just for around the house - everything is straight clay.
