Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Jane (PlainJane) and I am the blessed and happy wife to Jeff and doubly blessed mama of two perfectly wonderful daughters. Please join me as I share our Lifestyle of Learning through Christian homeschooling and homesteading on our little hobby farm with our prairie girls.
Amber (Bookworm) is our dd15/10th grader.
Our perfectionist and over-achiever. She loves reading, playing violin, all things vintage, riding her Paint horse, and being a farm girl.
Anna (Ladybug)
is our dd12/7th grader.
Our "girls just want to have fun" girl. She loves to play and has a great sense of humor, but also enjoys cooking, music, and riding her QH pony.

Outside My Window... it's a LOVELY day; 83 in the shade. The wind is picking up and rain is headed our way. The horses are up at the barn for their afternoon nap.
I'm thinking... I need to get off the computer and do something productive around the house.
From the learning rooms... I have just 2 milk crates of unused homeschool books left after the garage sale - I suppose I better post them somewhere - it would be nice to have them gone before school starts this fall. I have my Teaching Textbooks Math Grade 7 ordered; still need to order Christian Light Home Ec. for Ladybug and Spencerian Penmanship for both girls; and I'd like the Eyewitness or DK book on gems or rocks and minerals (Next year's science focus).
I am thankful for... all of God's rich blessings! Just off the top of my head, I'm thankful for my husband's good job and for the priviledge of homeschooling.
From the kitchen...
M - Twice Smoked Ham
T - Baked Chicken
W - Spaghetti & Garlic Bread
TH - Burgers & Home Fries
F - Pizza
S - Chicken Fried Rice
I am wearing... long denim skirt; light blue t-shirt; barefoot; hair is flipped up off my neck.
I am hearing... The other computer's hum, the clock ticking, the wind whistling in the window, and the sewing machine - Anna is whipping up a matching head scarf to the skirt she plans on wearing tomorrow.
Around the house & barn... General clean-up. Still need to play with the horses later as there's an 80% chance of rain for tomorrow.
One of my favorite things... happy children.
I am going... to be taking the girls to one-room schoolhouse all this week (and back again); need to do some serious clothes shopping later this week for ME. A few plans for the rest of the week...
Besides taking the girls to one-room schoolhouse? Just housework, gardening, paly with the horses, shopping - oh, and Saturday we are having a big family portrait done for the in-law's 50th wedding anniversary.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
The girls arrive at one-room schoolhouse (posing with a couple of their friends). Amber is too old to be a student, but is volunteering as a teacher's assistant for the week. A fun class - the girls already know half of the class.
That's all for today!
Thanks for stopping! Warm Wishes for a Wonderful Week!
Much thanks to our hostessPeggyfor the Simple Woman's Daybook.
I hope you get some wonderful finds as far as clothing later this week.
I just used my cast iron skillet with about 1 1/2 inches of canola oil. I don't usually deep fry either. I do have a fry daddy, but haven't used it since we moved here...
It isn't so much that the job stresses me out, as that I have to squeeze other things together to make up for me not being there, and trying to school in 4 days a week instead of five... My dh was supposed to hs when I worked but it didn't happen much and when it did, it wasn't a positive thing...
Such a sweet picture! Looks like something my girls would enjoy :)
Your menu looks wonderful, too!
I've finally blogged a bit but probably won't be on the computer much more this week. I have so much to write but I'm very limited in computer time right now.
That one room schoolhouse just looks like so much fun. I love the period clothing. :o) Speaking of school, we should do some tomorrow... almost done. Yippee!!
Thanks for the warm welcome back. I see some things have changed here since I've only had time to skim. I notice you are using your girls' names now, and where are your capri's and pony tail? ;) And, you don't have your hubby slaving over anything??
You asked about our eggs, and you're right, we can't possibly EAT that many eggs each week, so I sell them for $3 a dozen. It helps with the cost of feed and such. (notice I said HELPS, these guys may never make up for what we've spent!) The donkeys and other field animals don't belong to us. The pasture is rented. The owner says the mom can be ridden. I don't think they are mini's??
I like happy children too! I will send up the rain next time, which will probably be this evening. It's done nothing but rain lately. Thankfully, the lake was dry! Have a great week. Looks like you will!

Sounds like your almost ready for school. This year I am stalling on buying my books and the only reason I can think of is b/c I haven't really had time to sit down and solidify my book list. Life is moving fast and have had a hard time finding time to think and mull things over like I like to do before I make final book choices. I think I am going to have to make time in the evenings otherwise it won't happen.
I sure would love to teach in that classroom! Sometimes the environment makes all the difference! We've been watching Little House on the Prairie the last couple of weeks and what a blessing it has been. We just watched one show that was totally focused on the school house.
Thanks for sharing your day!
I was fairly sick with my daughter but with my son I wasn't sick a bit. I call that the heaven pregnancy. Last year I was pregnant and was very sick. I miscarried and so my little one is in heaven.
I should be due around February 3rd. So it could be a January baby. My son was born early and so there's definitely a chance! Thanks for the prayers :0)
Were you sick during any pregnancies? I'm taking a guess that your girls are not adopted. They look A LOT like you. But I have to take a guess because I have so many friends that have adopted children.
That's really neat that you take your girls to this every year. I remember your past posts on this - I've always been impressed. That's a great opportunity - it's fun and educational, too.
Thank you for your comments about the book on hospitality you've been reading. It sounds like one I'd like to purchase. I've often bought books on this subject, but been disappointed with it's content - being that I found them to be all on the "why" - I already know the "why" I just want the encouragement and the practical to make it easier.
I think I might have that same book you have listed last on horses. I'll have to look. I have almost a whole row of books on the subject of horses on one of my shelves. Have you been doing any riding or training? I know your girls are, I'm just wondering if you are doing the same.
I was SO sick today! Wow! I had hot flashes all day long and couldn't do much but sit around.
About your question, I was around 10 weeks along but the baby was only about 8 weeks old. Just the cutest little thing!!! It made me even more against abortion. They really are just a teeny tiny little baby. :0)
Bummer on the sick thing. (on your part) At least it went away. My niece is 6 months pregnant right now and she said she was super sick all day today. Poor thing!
I would love to adopt too! I think about it often but my husband is the same way. He seems to consider it at times and then not at all at other times. I figure that if its in God's plan then He will change my honey's heart.
Have a blessed rest of the week!!!
